The Helots (in Classical Greek Εἵλωτες / Heílôtes) were the serfs of Sparta. They should not be confused with the chattel slaves, who were much less common (or nonexistent) in Sparta. The practice of keeping Helots also occurred in Thessaly, Crete, and Sicily[1].

Thanks for the history lesson, Cretin.

Belgian beers are by far my favorite. Hoegaarden is nice in the summer with a wedge of lemon. I love Leffe dark in the winter and the blonde is nice too. Stella is blah.

I sometimes buy Chimay or Orval; they are nice but I prefer Duvel or Affligem when I can find it. At xmas time, there are always tons of special Belgian imports at the liquor store here and I love trying them out. Most are really strong. One pack of 12 assorted ones come in short dark bottles with dubbels, trippels... and a piraat and draaken something beer in an opaque white bottle that is like 12% alcohol!! I've also tried Petrus blonde and dark and really like it but haven't been able to find anymore here.

Btw is Rodenbach Alexander back in production back there? I heard that several years ago, after Rodenbach was bought out (I don't remember the conglomerate's name) trhat it was shelved... I'd still love to try the stuff.

I honestly wouldn't know, will inform about it and get backt to you.

What's it like to live in the best beer producing country in the world? Every time you go to the store do you have a chuckle at the silly American and British attempts at brewing?
