I was going to say something equally rude to you. Then I decided that I would not piss on you, even if you were on fire. Is there anything else that I can help you with sir?

Guy, if you're going to conduct yourself this way with people in an attempt to show your superiority, at least write your own insults or tailor them to the person unfortunate enough to come across you in their daily life. It makes you sound like a rube when you recycle cliched insults; or, at least don't present them in sentence fragments. Someone might get the impression that you're undereducated and just throwing out insults to mask your strikingly evident inferiority complex.

Good luck with your rental properties near Disney World.*

-WBJ

*See now THAT was a good insult, because it references what is clearly a stupid idea, and clearly something you could never execute anyway.

What I don't understand from the OP's post (and would appreciate his enlightenment here) is that, if the CEO and OP are such good friends (and for more than a decade), why would there even the be concern, and amazement (as gleaned from the title), at not being sacked for offering the boss friend sartorial advice?

Would really appreciate an answer to this, BMW or not.

Thanks OP.

Oh, and boosting about how you drive a BMW is analogues to saying you have a closet full of Huge Boss suits. In other words, its super impressive!! Right on OP!!!!:slayer:

I his defense, though, a BMW 1-series isn't really a luxury car.

No it is not a luxury car. It is quick. A 135 with the DCT trans does 0-60 in 4.4 seconds. That is actually a really good 0-60 time. It gets no respect from anyone though, becuase it's a 1 series. People will say things like "oh my brother has a BMW but he has a 5 series". I don't care though becuase I like cars and like the engine and transmission the car comes with. It is a pretty good performance value. The Mustang 5.0 is a better performance value but I am not a Mustang guy.

The handling is a little sloppy though compared to a porsche. That is why I had a Cayman. When I really felt like driving and shifting gears I would drive it. I have owned several porsches and attended Porsche owner events for years. I used to be very into cars. I never got to Ferarri status. I don't think I aspire to anymore.

Everything has changed now because I have severe achilles tendonitis. I have been doing therapy for months. I have improved a lot, but am not completely recoved yet. I do not think I will want to drive a stick shift again for a long time. As a result I do not even enjoy driving the way I used to. The BMW 1 series has 300 hp and 300 ft lb of torque. That torque is availabe from 1200 RPM. So just above idle the car is making huge power. It is a hair trigger car. This is good for my ankle becuase I dont have to give the car so much gas to get going. The brakes are giant 6 piston Brembos. The car requires very little input to stop. This is good for my ankle stoo. What I am saying is that I cannot imagibe a better car for someone with sore ankles. It makes it easier for me to drive longer distances without gatting fatigued.

Should have kept the Cayman, just gotten the PDK instead. In terms of Ferrari, how could you not aspire to own one?! The 458 Italia is AMAZING! :bounce2:

okay then, I am just going to shut up and let this thread die now.

I did not intend to attack anyone here. I now realize that it was foolish to lash out at every single person that said something negative to me. It would have gotten much further by just annoying the negative posts.

This isn't in DT yet..

In any case: 1 Series is not a luxury car, it is a recycled car, just to fill in the beginning of their line. You can't boast about its engine or its transmission, it borrows everything from its superior cars in the lineup - even its shape and details. (current 1 series uses a 5 series GT engine)

Its an unimaginative rocket that is only inferior to the 1 Series M.

The Cayman (One of my favorite cars) - is somewhat the same. Great handling, great potential. If I ever get my hands on one i'm driving it down to Maryland and getting the TPC turbo package. I love the shape and handling of the car, but far more I love its potential. However, when it comes down to it - its an afterthought.

You want a real car? Don't get a 1 Series - get a M3 or M5. Don't get a Cayman - get a 911 S or Turbo.

EDIT: I don't mean to say you can't own a 1 Series or Cayman - but rather you don't own bragging rights over other forum members, especially by mentioning those cars.

I have owned an M5. It was cool. I hated the clunky SMG transmission.

I have owned a 911. It is my favorite car that I have owned. I liked the Cayman too.
