Frowned upon in my family. Some friends smoke when drinking, and I know a few who smoke daily.
Not really looked down at.

Even here in the Capital of tobacco, Richmond VA, there is a stigma amongst many people I hang out with. That being said, there is a large arts crowd here and I'd venture to say 50% of them smoke and I would consider them to be a peripheral group with which I associate. I smoke about 3 to 4 cigars a week but that's 100% at home or in my car.

I stayed across from Altria HQ for a month. They have a pretty logo.

i wonder about people who won't let me smoke in their homes and frankly, i typically light up even when asked not to. why invite me over if you know I smoke and know me and don't want me to do the things i do like smoke, look in people's fridges, masturbate and steal their stamps.

When I was younger in MTL, everyone smoked and non-smokers were an odd minority. Times have changed though and most people I know today don't smoke.

Although I quit about 12 yrs ago, I still enjoyed the odd cigarette - especially when drinking. In the last few months, I've started buying packs and smoking 1-2 cigs/day - more if consuming alcohol. My non-smoking friends don't really care since we cannot smoke indoors anywhere anymore and I don't smoke around the kids.

I wuold smack the **** out of you (with a chair) if you did that at my place.

(and then i'd run and hide)

But seriously, it's an asshole thing to do if you know they're non-smokers, or even if they're smokers and don't smoke in their own home.
