I'll be visiting a friend in Houston tomorrow and will be there for about a week. Ready to catch a Rockets/Lakers game. Any recommendations on what else to do?

Houston isn't much of a touristy place, I'm sad to say. That said, here's my recs.

See if Miller outdoor theater has a production going on this weekend - they commonly have something going on, and iirc their productions are either low-cost or free. Not far from the museum district, where there are a few good galleries as well.

Alley Theater generally has some good plays going on, but I've not been in a little while. The Theater district should be pretty busy this time of year. Also if you're downtown and have time to kill, you might drop into the tunnel system underneath the streets. Yeah: there's a whole underworld down there: shops, restaurants, etc.

BBQ: County Line, Rudy's, Pizzitola's, Goode Co - the location on I-10 is old-school Texan. However, the best BBQ tends to be found in Luling, and you have to go early to get anything.

Rudy's is a chain but it is excellent for price/quality and availability.

How I miss Rudy's, HEB, and Speck's.
