Hello again chaps! It has been a good few months since my last post but I’m pleased to be back!

I’ve expanded my summer wardrobe quite extensively as I’ve tried to adapt to the Sydney summer and am today experimenting with my first bamboo shirt… so far so good as I write this on my commute.

This suit is fresh from the tailor in Hoi An, Vietnam and I am delighted with how it’s turned out. I hope you’ll agree that I’ve embraced the advice to seek a more classic fit and both the jacket is longer and trousers wider than my Suitsupply suits. I also love the large cuff I requested!

I’ll do a write up of my experience at Vanda Tailors if anyone is interested? I got two suits and 6 shirts for $523!

Suit : Vanda Tailors
Shirt : Vanda Tailors
Tie : Hermes
Shoes : Grenson

I'd say, a noteworthy improvement.

New suit (technically a jacket, so this will be a fraught adventure in tailoring escapades as we move through /24), but just as bold as ever.
@Nelton is that bespoke, in so far as your ability to make stylistic adjustments? If so, I would ask that they dramatically lower the hip pockets moving forward. If unable to do so, I'd suggest going for jetted pockets, as their distance from the bottom of the coat will look far less jarring. Beyond that, I think it looks plenty good. I'd see about raising the rise of the trousers, and widening the hem opening/shortening the trousers a bit...pending your preference for trouser break. I have realized I tend to like more break than what looks "good" in robopose...

Yes, bespoke to a degree as I had full stylistic control but certain things were out of my control (such as pocket placement) and they made the suit very quickly! First fitting 12pm Friday, second fitting 10am Sat and final fitting 4pm Sat with additional adjustments made.

I see what you mean about the pockets comparing them to my S&M suit and jacket. They should be a little lower and I imagine they were thrown off as I asked for a jacket long enough to cover my derrière and perhaps they expected me to want it shortened. Patch pockets are always a bit of a risk with Vietnamese tailoring as I think they are a little more challenging than jetted pockets.

The trousers had slipped down a bit which means they are not draping as well and I’m finding today they are not staying up at the mid rise we had intended. I’m now back home so may have to get a tailor to help take them in a little further as side adjusters aren’t doing much! It was a great fun experiment and I really enjoyed the process - I imagine with another suit or more time they could have nailed it but we did spend about 7 hours with them over 36 hours! Here’s some photos of the process on the first fitting for good measure and I’ll show off the cream linen tomorrow!

Life is nuts with littles. I take pics when I can.

Thanks if I could keep it this sharp I would but hair cuts every 2 weeks is costly and impractical.

It really is and I don’t use it enough. Im going to remedy that though and wearing black shoes more often.

You have the soul of a poet.

"Life is nuts with littles.
I take pics where I can.
Hair's good! But shoes? Some spittle!
Quick buff....there! I'm the man!"

Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost."

All politics are local.

Another goal achieved, sitting on one of the benches in the Bundy Triangle. The Bundy Triangle has been sealed off for many years. This morning the Neighborhood Council committee I am on toured the Bundy Triangle as part of the current discussions about what to do with the Bundy Triangle.

Since some politicians wear red, white, and blue ties I wore red, white, and blue socks.

Brooks Brothers tweed jacket and Shetland sweater, Capas cap, Bow Tie Club tie, L L Bean OCBD shirt, Squarextraordinaire pocket square, J Crew corduroy trousers, Rugby Ralph Lauren socks, and Allen-Edmonds shoes.

The police car behind me was part of the police escort that made sure none of the homeless people who live in tents outside the fence did anything particularly bizarre. My friend who lives two doors south of here has been attacked several times by some of the homeless people.

The Bundy Triangle is an attractive space. Odds favor the fence remaining up forever since the pathways (built in 1925) are not ADA compliant and the budget for whatever will be done isn't enough to replace the pathways.

A warm and muggy day so the debut for my new cream linen suit again from Vanda Tailors in Hoi An, Vietnam. It is very similar to the other suit with the only modification having jetted pockets as opposed to patch. I’ve paired it with a bamboo shirt that I had made - I’m very much enjoying the breathability compared to cotton!

As always keen to know your thoughts and feedback.

Details:

Suit - Vanda Tailors
Shirt - Vanda Tailors
Tie - Nick Bronson
Shoes - Loake
