First MTM suit by a tailoring outfit in Helsinki. They have a good reputation but I've been quite unimpressed with their work. The initial measuring struck me as a little slapdash and the process overall was long and frustrating. The first pass did not fit well at all and they never really addressed my concerns in subsequent rounds of alterations. After five attempts and few improvements, I gave up and took it to my local tailor instead. Thankfully she nailed it. I'm very happy with the result, even if it took several months longer than expected. Curious what you guys think.

This looks good. Don't see issues with the pants or the chest. Only thing I'd improve upon are stylistic choices and those are personal preferences.

Not bad.

I think the camera height may cause a bit of distortion. I think the jacket length it fine, but adding ~2cm is a bit of personal choice versus required for appropriateness. The left leg of the trousers seems to have a stronger crease - I wonder if a proper press of these trousers might clean them up

I really love the masculine elegance of MrVanneri's outfits. There is a strong sense of whimsy in them and it's great. I would even argue that it's precisely this sense of whimsy that initially piqued my interest in class menswear.

Tweed and flannels for the foreseeable future. Despite the image the flannels are a dark brown, though next time, I would go with a solid blue shirt for this fit.

Best,

DL-

I also enjoy the colorful warm contrast of DavidLane's outfits. His watch is also fantastic.

Kudos, gentlemen!

New tie from Cappelli and my sh*t kickers from Meermin. Today's conditions are like walking through a 2" deep frozen margarita but brown.

Even posing like the fellas from Drakes.

They do it well!

Seeing their NYC presence fleshed out by the Crosby st. team and FE Castleberry really has had a profound inspiration on my own photography style (and posing). Maybe another brand will spark a new change for me in the future...

Well if it keeps your hands out of your jacket pockets I’m all for it.

Fix your flaps!

I'd give that 10 likes if i could. My favorite sport coat outfits are a gun club with a tie that matches one color and trousers that match/approximate another.

I'm sorry it took me so long to respond and I didn't want you to think I ignored you. Thank you! I tend to boarder on the eccentric side of CM and I've been refining/tempering that with age. There was a lot going on with that fit already so I ditched the square (and that was difficult!).

@MrVenneri on fire recently. Last two fits were killer.

#112.

Sartoria Formosa - Maker's Shirt - Drake's for Henry Bucks - Canali - Carmina

We have the same suit! (You look much better in it.) Thank you for the kind words. :)

Thank you very much, that is so kind of you to say. I'm also happy to read that my intentions translate without written description. It's taken a long time (and even more money) to finally get to spot where I feel 'authentic' in my fits. The learning curve was far greater than I had ever anticipated.

A slushy, gloomy, day gave the old iPhone a tough time sorting out the colors of what I wore today. Bear in mind the distortion, most notably the shoes, which are burgundy, not magenta.

I appreciate experiments in counter-seasonality, but shantung and tweed doesn't work for me. Even aside from the cultural stuff--which I have no problem rejecting--the textures don't look right to my eye. Also, is that shirt white?

Point taken, this is my only shantung piece and admittedly my experience is limited. I liked the lack of formality both pieces had side by side...but I had not even considered seasonality. The shirt is actually beige...Yeah, I know, it looks bright white. This one really got thrashed by auto-focus and exposure settings.

I like the idea of a beige shirt there! It's an under-used color (I'm wearing one today, tie-less).
