I respect your enthusiasm and desire to respond to people in this thread. Would it be possible to do it all in 1 post instead of 7 in a row? Understandable to not think about this if you haven’t really used forums often over the years. Cheers.
Thank you for the advice. Will do. This is my first and only forum.
Happy Friday, everybody. I just want to mention that our quality control standards have not decreased. If anything, the team making the shoes has made vast improvements with the clicking, stitching, and finishing since 2016. I would consider the latest few runs of shell cordovan as being some of the best boots the team has ever made. When there are quality concerns, which there will be even on $2000 shoes, we work with the customer and find a solution to make everyone happy.

We also receive emails on a daily basis asking questions about the likes of loose grain. Most of the time, these are perfectly good boots. In speaking with other welted brands, they are seeing this more now than ever as well. I won't take a guess at what has created the uneasiness for new welted consumers, but I know the feedback they receive here is helpful for the whole community, so thank you.

Matt, I'm not by any means directing this towards you, and I think we are now in a great place since your first order some months ago. I just wanted to address the concern above that our standards could be falling since we are making more pairs than when we started.
I take no offense even if it was. I also did not make that comment. Folks on here have helped me understand this world alot. I mean ALOT! I have and continue to learn sooo much. I am thankful to everyone for that.
Wyatt, unless you simply refuse to sell to me, we are married. I am happy every day I lace them up and take time to tell the GS story to anyone who listens. I say nothing but great things about the fine folks who created a badass boot. I do need some Kudu in my life! I appreciate all you have done.

You said this based solely on the photos, not I.
"Maybe Grant Stone's QC isn't quite where they used to be since they've expanded in size."

Context is important. 'Nuff said. Props to Wyatt for answering any potential concerns in that area.

Not sure if I've posted these beauties yet! Purchased slightly used from a friend.

Leather laces seem like the obvious choice, but round cotton or paracord laces are easier on/off.

I am still quite confused on knowing the difference between grain break and loose grain. Either way, I feel these boots are a win in the CXL lottery. The parts that show are smooth as baby skin.

Loose grain is delaminating of the leather layers producing an air bubble. It’s very rare. 99% of what people call “loose grain” is just normal creasing or grain break

Always follow this flow chart:

Q: is this loose grain?

A: No

Q: But but but

A: No

There is a user on here called “707Matt” that has high jacked this thread for serval months now and has made it incredibly unenjoyable for me to follow. I can’t stand reading anything he writes anymore. I’ve never been so annoyed by any single user I’ve seen online the way I am with him. He’s completely intolerable (think of a 8 year old cry baby at a school). He clearly had a lack of any social skills or public decorum.

My final straw was seeing him posting photos of his newborn with a shoe stuck up to its face “smelling it” and him thinking this is somehow cute or acceptable. It’s just weird, gross, and boarders or child abuse.

Is there anyway I can personally mute him and block out all his posts so that I can enjoy this wonderful thread again?

Black waxy commander Edward boots today. I’ve swapped over to the Guarded Goods flat laces after popping two of the Guarded Goods thin round laces yesterday. Hopefully these prove to be a little more durable.

I have never had an issue with the thicker round laces, but they suit the larger eyelets of the Diesel more than the Edward.

I saw this on a recent video where there were samples put on a table. Does anyone know what this blue-ish Diesel leather is?? Definitely caught my attention.

Shinki horsebutt or tumbled shell? Very cool, along with everything else on that table. Storm kudu garrison boot looks great, along with the doubleshot/ double stuffed-looking Diesel boot. I'm technically the correct size for most of their samples which are typically 10.5D's. A dangerous thing if the sample page gets restocked.

It appears everyone is cool with personal attacks on here. I thought it was all about boots and leather, but I guess I was wrong. If we are going that route, I'm your huckleberry.

Where did I say I was “cool” with anything.

I just gave the guy the info he wanted.

FWIW - I have never blocked/ignored anyone in my 25+ years of internet forum use. At least…not yet, lol.

FWIW2 - I don’t really mind your posts. Livens up the place. But, like I said, I am pretty easy….

I do like that you used the multi-quote thing. IMO, it is better way to group one’s thoughts than muti-posting.

I think Trickers is the only brand that I know of that uses my size for samples (7 F = 8 D in US). So I at least have that. AE usually does 9 D from what I can tell.

If it is shell, probably won't be in my budget this time. But I can enjoy seeing other's pictures on here.
