“I don’t want to see myself in 2028 or whenever, driving only on street circuits close to the city for the fan engagement because you need these kinds of iconic tracks on the calendar,” Verstappen added. “I understand everyone wants to make money but there is also a limit to that because it’s important to keep these really cool circuits on the calendar, instead of just driving on street circuits because I don’t think F1 cars are designed for them anyway.”

Well F1 can start by getting rid of Monaco. Race is boring AF with cars just parading around.

Oh hey, I agree with something Max said! :fistbump:

I don’t mind so much the emergence of street circuits (my home GP is a “street” so let’s not shoot ourselves in the foot here), but it would be criminal to drop Spa (or Monaco) from the schedule. I wouldn’t mind if you got rid of **** like Bahrain or Jeddah or Baku though (even though i like the Jeddah track).

Btw i hope the Qatar GP fails miserably and gets cancelled. I’m still angry at Qatar doing the World Cup and forcing fans to consider going to an inhospitable place that no one cares to visit, has no football legacy, and no hotel rooms. **** those guys.

In better, less ranty news, i am attending the Belgian GP! Seats are on the bus stop chicane - i wanted Eau Rouge/Raidillon but struck out on those. It will be bittersweet if this is the last F1 race at Spa…renew the contract you Liberty F***ers!

Street circuits are rarely any good or they're not really street circuits. They offer in-person fans the opportunity to get closer to the cars than traditional circuits, but make the racing boring which is all the home viewer gets. Baku is actually something of an exception IMO because of that ridiculous straight. But it's in a totalitarian country, and I would be happy to see it dropped for that reason. Miami was surprisingly okay, but not really a street circuit. Jeddah is a purpose-built circuit with walls placed arbitrarily close to the track. **** Monaco.

I love Spa, but I wish they'd retained the proper Bus Stop chicane instead of the current config. It had a great hard-stop passing opportunity plus hot kerb action for the culture.

Every year, I'm always stoked to watch Monaco qualifying and then hate myself on Sunday for wasting 2 hours and watching the race.

He is 100% right, I can't imagine a World Championship without Spa, Monza or Suzuka 🙂

I'm not really a fan of the modern tracks, but I understand it from a safety and commercial point of view.

Ferrari will be hoping for massive tire deg for RBR tomorrow. Sainz looked like he could have beaten RBR unassisted, though. Merc's pace in Q3 was surprising given how they struggled in the earlier sessions.

Even with all their upgrades, Mercedes was still like .9 off the pace. Take away Charles’ tow and you’re still like .6 or .7 down. They’re still miles off the pace.

Indeed. Lewis' record of winning at least one race every year looks more and more tenuous. I do think he'll be the first 300-race starter to win a race, though.

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)
