Enlighten me: how deep is match fixing involved in top level football?

A colleague is yapping about how he's "very sure the UCL final was fixed" because of the comeback. Granted, he could be rather a know-it-all, he said the exact thing to every other match results with a hint of a comeback/ drama.

Madrid were playing Atleti under the table in the final 20 minutes. Non-stop attack. Atleti had to break at some point, and it eventually happened.

I have a similar conspiracy theorist friend who believes all professional sports are rigged every time.

I don't know how you could have fixed this match...the only decision I saw that had any bearing was the decision to have 5 minutesof stoppage time, but I'd think I'd be hard pressed to find anyone who'd honestly find fault with that one. After that call, the only one that had any bearing on the score was the Ronaldo penalty but that was meaningless to the outcome anyway as well

Yeah

I googled around and yeah, match fixing on that scale would have involved too much money flow and too many individuals/ sides, and would be easily noticeable.

I just got pissed at how flippant that guy is towards the athletes, dude didn't even watch the thing.

Such a shame to see cardiff going down, I guess selling their soul didn't work out for them.

As probably the only Cardiff supporter to frequent SF, may I just say, regarding relegation:

700

Tan needs to get his hands off, and let the club be run by someone that knows what they're doing. It's not a bloody McDonald's franchise.

I laughed at the story about Nigeria-Scotland. Pre WC warm ups are so unpredictable and not representative of the teams involved most times.

You know you have a problem when you wager on a friendly.

Better odds to put money on red or black.

Wasn't meaningless. It have him the record for most goals in a CL season. But yeah, he's a prat anyway.

Your team has just staged an amazing comeback (w/ you largely missing) w/ a fantastic last second equalizer, and then scored a great go-ahead-likely winning goal and he's thinking about his personal scoring record? Sorry, the guy is just a selfish twat...

You're too kind. Selfish twat? Pratt? If I were him I'd be pleased with that assessment!

I'm a huge Real Madrid fan. I felt very uncomfortable about his display upon scoring his goal. I didn't really know why. This explains it well.

Roma's new kit is awesome.

Another big Madrid fan; Ronaldo's celebration was CR7 being CR7.

Do you think he starves himself before games so that his abs have more definition when he takes off his shirt?
