Just standard office fair, nothing notable. For some reason, both tabs have not faired well. Was still an unexpected surprise. That’s impressive. What we’re hauling that made that happen?
Oh goodness the patches are not even fully stitched down, they have huge margins around the stitching! Those edges will curl back with use and catch upon anything you slip into and out of those pockets; I'd trim them back to the stitching as best you can. And that hunk of fabric just hanging off must be a fidget toy to keep you occupied during dull meetings!
From the outside at least it looks typical of their repairs and in keeping with the general condition and character of your bag. I'm curious about the canvas colours though; was the entire front pocket replaced? In the side-on photos there is significant different in tone between the panels... 🧐
Wow...this thread is a ghost town nowadays! I have been reading through the last couple of years and it seemed like a really cool vibrant community...sorry I missed it! I have been into Filson on and off since 2012 and have recently been scrambling to get the pieces that I want to enjoy before Bedrock moves all production offshore.
In any event, here is a picture of my newest and oldest Filson bag...enjoy!

I did the reverse. Filson wouldn’t do the repair, so I did. It is odd and stands out, but suits me.Gosh it's had a hard life, hasn't it?! 😅
Would have been awesome if they'd replaced the front and bottom panels with Otter Green, since the Tan of differing ages would never match up. An OG/Tan blend would have been awesome, especially as the OG faded!
Got my bag back. Was blown away at how quickly they turned it around. They replaced both leather tabs which I am super pleased with. The rest of the repairs are super sloppy, and I am less than thrilled. Especially with the patch they decided to do to the front where there was no issue.
Totally accept I might be out of the realm of reasonable expectations. I fully knew what their repair process entailed (they provide some good literature when you send in your repair request. And other than where they didn't close off stitches, I don't have concerns regarding the method or validity of the repair. You're not happy with these repairs? That's been the pretty standard darning procedure from Filson for years. Not pretty to look like on the inside, but it's probably stronger than new now.
Here's my restoration dept rucksack and 256.
I've gone through several Filson bags over the years and the last one left standing is my trusty 256 purchased in 2012 from Crane's for a mere $208.25 (using the StyleForum discount). Crazy to see that a new 256 costs $450 and the interior compartments don't include the pocket organizers anymore.
Shortly after purchasing, I ended up sending it back to Filson to have a handgrip installed ($20). Still looks amazing after ten years of use! Unfortunately, with the recent price increases and likelihood these bags will be outsourced, I can no longer recommend new Filson bags to anyone.
