I'm not sure if there is a good solution for getting indigo out of the fabric. I actually think it adds a bit of character. (I realize that doesn't answer your question, though). The best part about Filson is that they are not supposed to look pristine. Supposed to look worn in.
I got it. Thank you so much.

Hey all. It's been a minute.

Much like WJR above, I am considering selling two jackets and wanted to reach out to this community first:
1. A Filson short-lined cruiser in Spruce Green - size L. Never worn outside the house. Bought brand new at the store.
2. A Filson Tin Cloth Cruiser - in Green. Size M. Worn out of the house ONE time

Both were purchased this last spring (February, I think). Like new or as new as you can get basically.

What do you think they'd gather on the open market? And would any of you like first dibs? DM me and I can take some pictures, etc.
Love my spruiser. I’ve worn mine quite a bit. I really liked the he green tin cruiser but having just bought the shorty I had to pass. I’m thinking probably close to retail on both, especially heading into the fall season. If you still have the tags you could advertise preowned but with tags and in perfect condition and that’ll go a long way.

You should probably mention that this is absolutely a scam so people don’t try and buy it…

Here's a Frost River Isle Royale Bushcraft Pack I picked up today on consignment. This is the mid-size "Royale Jr.", with a bunch of accessories...

Greetings to everyone. I am new to the forum and I am about to purchase a "24 HOUR TIN CLOTH". On the official website the product is not available (https://www.filson.eu/it/collection...4-hour-tin-cloth-briefcase-fmbag0018w0200-308). I found it from a dealer but I'm not able to understand if it is the same model (https://www.wannaccess.com/it/filso...loth-briefcase-otter-green-0706030388209.html). Thanks a lot for your help.
Looks like the same model but I can't vouch for that website - no idea if it's reputable or not. Buyer beware?

I’ve got a cinder colored version that I’d sell ya if you’re in the US. I don’t know anything about wanna access but it looks a bit scammy to me.

Interview with Filson Creative Director in A Continuous Lean newsletter. A lot of mushy creative director gobbledygook. He does sort of address the Made in USA thing and fate of manufacturing in Seattle toward the end.

Lucky enough to have all three generations of the filson briefcase 257. Maybe there is more than 3 generations, this i cannot confirm.
right to left. filson talon, ykk filson and the modern filson zippers.

The ykk tan looks fresh and not faded at all even though it is probably 10 yeas old.

Check the details in the pictures.

On another note - talk to a few retailers that use to carry filson products but all of them do carry enough due to the following.
1. Prices up
2. The trims such as buckles, d-rings and zippers not made in usa anymore.
3. brand ethics is not what it used to be. Made of the stores who only carry made in usa product believe only in made in usa.
4. so called 22 oz rugged twill is gone.
5. Many of the jackets that use to be USA are now made overseas.

At some point, I realized I had accumulated more Filson bags than I could use in my lifetime. I was traveling weekly, and in a sort of Battle Royale of luggage over months due to traveling so much, practicality won out and I found myself only using my black Filson Ranger backpack (1st Gen with leather trim) and a YKK zipper era tan tote.

Every time I tried something else in rotation I would go back to the Ranger and tote the next trip (which are probably my most inexpensive and modest Filson bags). I even tried a roller bag but I found it slow and clumsy outside of the smooth surfaces of hotels and airport terminals
My travel involves planes, trains, Uber/taxi and a lot of walking so it’s not surprising that a backpack won out (I found the compartmentalization of the Journeyman limited capacity too much versus the sack like Ranger and in some places I prefer no outer pockets for security).

The other thing is I kept noticing that the % of overseas manufactured Filson goods was increasing each season along with the pricing (particularly on clothing but even on new bags like the latest Journeyman) that it became farless enticing to purchase anything new from Filson since there were plenty of other options if I wanted to buy something made overseas - and like I said - I was basically using the same two Filson bags anyway! Anyway this is not a tirade against Filson’s overseas manufacturing per se but an explanation how I went from being a rabid fan to someone who rarely posts on this thread anymore. Maybe there are others in the same camp.

When traveling,e specially no checking bags, then backpacks are best. I never had the ranger but when traveling I like to get easier access to items. This is why I have a cotopaxi.

I have two filson rucksack and I only use them in the spring and summer season because they feel bulky during winter and the like to sag when they are full. The rucksack are not great for traveling. FIlson never seam to get actually luaggage correct no matter how hard they try and yet others have done it properly.

If I was new and I was into filson, I would start buying the older or vintage filson. If I wanted something similar then it would would like to frost river, duluth trading co, vermilyea pelle, marlando (their canvas briefcase looks nice). On the upper end, it would have to be mismo bags.

I'm travelling very frequently right now, and usually do so at the end of academic term to run residentials on other campuses. As usual I take my 257 for the office, but add the Oil Finish Rucksack for extra room. I typically fly up to Cairns and often manage to get some beach time on some of the tropical islands up there on the Great Barrier Reef, so into the rucksack go a big towelling poncho, beach blanket, that bulky-yet-light kind of stuff. My checked bag is a big ol' Patagonia Black Hole Duffel, and my Small Field Bag sneaks in there too for off-duty walking around and dinner out.

When on the islands for a day or overnight I just load the rucksack for the night and use it for day hiking away from the resort. It's brilliant! On the matter of security, I just don't put anything expensive in those back pockets when travelling or in crowded areas.

Feeling proud right now because in a couple hours I'm flying up again for another fortnight, and this time I've got the rucksack stuffed and fitting into the duffel, so my packing tetris game is improving!
