Your post is full of incorrect information, half of the names you mention are merchants not mills. Scabal are a cloth merchant that commission weave, and Bower is a mill owned by them, but produces cloth for them and others.

I would have put Dormeuil at no1. Chic designs, high quality and rather solid cloths.

Most of the fabrics come from the same mills and are of equal quality. You pay for fabric design and ranges. It costs to support lots of stock. Scabal has 5000 fabrics in stock, and big advertising, but they have patterns and qualities as much as you can imagine, but they have a higher price. You can get the same for less, but usually they have cloth that design is unique to them for instance, so you pay the price they ask.

Okay. I understand that now. That still does not give me a How-To or any steps on what would be decent 100% Worsted Wool fabric around 30 GBP (little less or more).

Ideally I'd like to go for J J Minnis Fresco (from all the Summer suit fabric knowledge I've read). But they are higher priced at 60 GBP. So, before I go there, I'd like to TRY OUT these tailors and see how they do.. Once I can rely on the tailor and depend on them and KNOW my FIT better, I'll go for the Fresco and more.

So any thoughts on the following (if the question above was too wide):
- 100% Worsted Wool
- Business / Formal (From my reading a Solid non patterned suit is always safer, more formal, interview friendly and can go with more shirts etc than certain patterns/ pin strips etc. - So suggest the conservative variety)
- Charcoal/ Dark or Mid Gray - Navy (I already have a RTW navy so prefer the given shade)

So using the above, please point me (link if possible) to SPECIFIC fabrics from specific mill/ merchant/ marketer that is
- Good Value for Money at the lower end of Good worsted fabrics.

I do not need this first tailor made suit to be fancy. Should work for interviews and client meetings (as formal as possible).

Loro Piana, Dormueil, Scabal, Zegna are going to be on the more expensive side. Vitale Barberis Conoco, Delfino, Ariston (can be pricey) and I am sure there are others are more reasonably price.

This has been my experience. Then there's the English cloth, Huddersfield, Minnis, J. Hardy, Lesser, Harrisons, Fox. I guess stick to the name brands and you will be fine. It can be quite overwhelming. I don't think there is a quick answer to your question.

That's a lot of lovely knowledge for the little more sorted and experienced. I have no idea which one and where to start.

PS: So I was shown some fabrics and swatches from Georgia Gullini - Caviar collection. I dont know where they stand but someone I showed (does not have time to help me select) did not like the strips of fabric I showed him. My knowledge of worsted wool is rather new.

From my online research they do not seem really Italian - More like pretend. Help me out?

Dugdale is good honest cloth, I second jeffrey suggestion. They are a good merchant for most normal cloth choices.

Thank you for the link. With a lot of excitement I went to the link hoping to sort through the fabrics and prices. Apparently you have to register / apply. And to do that you have to not an individual but a business.

How do I go about checking out their catalog? Do they check thoroughly for business information? Any way to bypass?

hi, does anyone know fabric quality of william halstead, reid & taylor (scotland made) and john foster?
i have no exprience in choosing fabric or what one look in fabric
is it wise to buy fabric online without feeling the fabric first?

WH and Taylor & Reid are good. I still have unfunded liabilities from both (to be made) yet have been very pleased with the quality.
No experience with John Foster.
