Does your foot size change with age?

I've been pondering about this question. If your foot size stays the same, buying good quality shoes is not too bad since you get to keep them for many decades. Also same for other items like ties, hat, and pocket square.

Your feet can spread a bit with age or weight gain, and can shrink with weight loss.

Yes, foot size changes with age considerably. By the time you are 14 or 15, they are probably done growing.

as a full grown adult, size change would only be affected by weight gain or loss... you know, chubby feet.

no so much the length though as with the width, which can be a pain to get the right fit.

Certain ailments, like heart failure or cancer, have the potential to swell your feet.

Actually, my feet have gone fron 10.5 in my 30's to 11.5 at age 55, and my width has not changed.

Yes, your foot can still get bigger with later age even without significant weight gain.

I wore size 11 from when I was about 15 until I was 32. Then I went down to a 10.5, and the last couple of years to a 10. The first couple of pairs of good shoes I bought, when I was about 28, no longer fit.

I suppose falling/fallen arches could affect which style or last is the best fit.

I suppose it can, mine hasn't changed much since my college days. I do find that with diffrent brands I can wear diffrent sizes but usualy wear a 10 in most shoes and have been for several years now.

They absolutely can change with age. Most people's feet, regardless of weight, spread out and get longer with time. Once an arch starts to collapse, the points at each end of the arch become further away. Also, the metatarsal bones in your feet start to splay out - like taking your hand with your fingers extended, but close together - then spreading them out.

My feet seem to have "grown" about a half size between age 35 and 40. I assume the arches are collapsing slightly.
