I'm not on the tall side and have had my eye on some cardigans but I remember reading some where that a short man should stay away from any cardigan with more then 3 buttons. But I'm not sure if that's correct I cant remember the article so I was wondering if any one here has some input.

The answer to your question is "it depends."

Try one on. If it looks good, keep wearing them. If not, don't.

the fact that this article uses a blanket statement for both blazers and cardigans tells me to ignore it

a blazer button and a cardigan button are not the same thing

You're not gonna gain a magical three inches, or even an inch, from optical illusions, so wear a cardigan if you like it.
Your real friends are slim but not skinny pants, and shoes that look natural while being normally tall, ie workboots.

I dunno about shorter or anything, but you could skirt into dangerous "creepy stalker guy" territory if you're not careful:

A cardigan buttoned only at the bottom does make a fat woman appear thinner. Or so she seems to think.

Can't believe a thread was started about this. Or can I.

the cardigan doesn't make you look short. Your shortness makes you look short.

Being 5'2 I can tell you right now this is NOT TRUE.

As for blazers, a blazer that is even the slightest bit too long will look funny, so generally speaking short/cropped blazers are the way to go, alterations will be a requirement if you're as short as me.

Nope, ate reasonably well, beats me why I turned out how I did, I never had a big appetite or a big stomach and was always short (from early primary school days).
