That really is sharp. I've always admired the two tone makeups from afar but they are growing on me.

Thank you sir for the additional pictures

Finally I receive update from Whiteriver, boot from left build on last #4811.Mistakenly been listed like #55.

Are you sure the one not the LEFT is the SJ..? I would've bet it was the other way around..

I'm with you linafelt. I believe the burgundy is the 4811 last. I found this on Reddit.

11.5D SJ (roughout) vs 11.5E SD
Farmer-Ranchers on Smoke Jumper last (rough out) vs Bounty Hunters on Semi-Dress last.

And one more:

Farmer-Rancher (4811 last, brown) vs Hathorn Smokejumper (55 last, black). Both are size 12.5D.

Tried combing the last 5 pages for sizing help but didnt see much noobs like me. Reddit didn't really help so hopefully some people on here can help me.

current sizing: 9.5 D/E brannock, 9.5D barrie, 9.5D Truman boots (stretched for vamp/wdith)

I see a bunch of boots I want to try on whitesriver and was wondering do I go 9.5D which is TTS or do I size down to a 9D? I see from all the pics that most of the lasts have good toe box space so not sure if I need the wide unless the vamp area is really tight. I prefer to wear medium weight socks.

You seem to have some unique sizing issues, so you might want to trace your foot and send it in to White's for sizing advice. Most people size down for the Barrie last, but you do not. White's presently recommends that for their 55 last you size up 1/2 size from your Barrie last. Personally, unless your Barrie shoes are almost too small, I suspect in your case you will be happier if you do not. I measure 10.5D on a Brannock. I wear a 10.5D in the 55 last with plenty of room for thick or medium socks. At first I feared they may be too big and wide, but now I love them. I have some 10D chukkas built on the Barrie last. They fit, but were tighter than the 10.5D 55 lasted boots. I tend to wear the chukkas with thinner dress socks and they are made of CXL so they stretch quite easily. I wouldn't be surprised if you don't fit best in a 9.5E 55 last.

I'm 11 D/E Brannock, 11 D Barrie (I can wear 10.5 E Barrie sometimes, but not always.. shrug), 11.5 Truman is snug in the instep for me. I have one pair from Whites on the 55 in 10.5EE. Length is fine, and I've got plenty volume. Fit is really comfortable. Might even be able to go 10.5 E in the 55.

thanks you two, I'll see about sending an email to them.

If I see any interesting 9.5E on whitesriver plus ebay cb I might just take the plunge on it.

They do let you return items on Whitesriver, which would leave you out $45 r/t or so if it doesn't fit. That's the impatience fee. :)

Definitely consider sending in some tracings and your size details to Bakers too. They've done a pretty good job by me on sizing.

Well, here they are! White's Cougar - red dog roughout, 6 inch height, brass hardware, no lining, single celastic, natural edge, Vib 2021 sand sole. Wore them today and simply love them. Pretty comfy out of the box - shouldn't be a hard break in period. Not as heavy as my SDs and BHs, but heavier than any other boot I own. Will wear these a lot!

Hey spurs, I'm thinking of getting this exact same boot, mainly bc my Red Wing wedge boots are also so comfortable. But do you miss the 'Arch-ease' arch? I noticed that someone else later on had managed to get a wedge-soled arch-ease-lasted boot which seems to be the best of all worlds! Granted, your boot is a bargain, IMO. Can you post some more pics from all angles?? Thanks!

PS Edit to my own post! I just realized these are not the bargain stitch-down hikers by Bakers I thought they were. So, what's the difference between these Cougars and the hikers?? Anyone??

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
