Wanting to join the submariner crew, eh?

I'm looking forward to your photos/review. Good thing (for me) you bought the last 48 and they do not carry a 46 - I am looking for something in precisely that colour.

That is indeed a slightly tougher pill to swallow price wise. But thank you!

EDIT: Interestingly, the measurements on Frans Boone differ quite a bit from Lund & Lund's. Maybe they are a different model.

I think it's the same sweater (look at the drop-stitches), the colour could be different though, sometimes measurements are not accurate, as we know.

Mine is EU48 and the chest width is 51cm (not 53 as stated).

I was browsing Kamakura's website looking for shirts, and stumbled upon their knitwear section. They seem to have slightly shorter length compared to some Scottish/Italian makers, probably to fit Asian customers. Sleeve length (I'm assuming top of shoulder to cuff) doesn't look too short either. They're made in Japan without any mention of the maker other than it being located in Niigata (at least on some models, but not all). Designs don't look too oversized either.

Since I remember there are a few people looking for shorter knitwear, this might help some. Example sizing chart from the 30-gauge cardigan below.

I need to wash a cashmere sweater for the first time after staying at a friend’s place while their spouse cooked with a little too much oil…

Do you gents generally go with baby shampoo, Woolite, speciality cashmere detergent (like the likes from JoE), or something else?

I also had a cashmere baseball cap with me that needs to be refreshed… will steaming it help? I don’t think I can wash it the same way as a sweater, worried about dry cleaning it as well. Any tips?

Cheers

Use a specific cashmere detergent.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
