By the way, €770 is a high price, but not overdone. Look at the prices of Colombo, Loro Piana or Cucinelli for comparison.
The price seems to be in line with what you would pay at Johnstons of Elgin which makes sense as they produce (some) knitwear for PWVC.

I've enjoyed reading this thread (I'm up to page 138 currently). I'm new to the knitwear game.

I bought a medium sized (US size 38-40 per Teviotdale Mills website) William Lockie Chirnside Cable Crew sweater and the length is longer than the medium William Lockie Melrose that I bought. I'm measuring the Chirnside at 28" long and the Melrose at 26.25" long, which is much more to my liking.

Does the Chirnside run longer than the Melrose or is there variance in individual sweaters? I'm considering trying my luck with another medium Chirnside and hoping the length is a little smaller. Is there anyone else that has a medium Chirnside that would be willing to measure their sweater length?

I have no Chirnside, but, as said multiple times, William Lockie seems to have a serious problem with sizing consistency. It could also be though that for different models they have different measurements.

I have also had problem with William Lockie size measurements not being what they state themselves should be. Had to make an exchange once.

The Chirnside listed at A Hume seemed to have shorter length than most other models like Leven and Melrose. I remember even emailing them and they confirmed the sizing chart should be correct. Weird that yours is longer.

I have a "Chirnside" lookalike but it was made for The Armoury so the length probably was shortened to fit mid to high rise trousers.

Hi the purchase I made a week or so ago after the link was kindly provided has arrived today. It’s a really nice crewneck from Colombo . I’m really pleased and will definitely be keeping it
I couldn't find anything I really want from that retailer (even during the additional 20% discount period) but I grabbed one turtleneck directly from Colombo's website. Really liking the snug neck but I find it quite roomy in the waist, and I wish the hem ribbing was tighter.

I ordered a size down (usually I am a 40, but when I tried a 40 a while ago it was too baggy ) 38 is still a little looser than expecting but is good overall as I am fighting a losing battle with middle aged belly!

I haven't seen Okochi Meriyasu mentioned in this thread. They have some knits in collaboration with No Man Walks Alone. I have two of them and they are fantastic and are on sale right now. Unfortunately, they are mostly sold out. Folks might want to keep them in mind next FW. I'm pretty sure they are coming back.

Was considering the cream basketweave crewneck but by the time I learned about them they were gone in my size.
Luckily I managed to get the cream and red basketweave in my size. They are very nice. I couldn't get the bubble knits.

It's funny because separately I was also interested in this model from Colombo, but obviously in a different price bracket: https://www.lanificiocolombo.com/co...r/products/grey-kid-cashmere-crewneck-sweater

I've just started getting interested in textured knitwear recently. I got a cable knit (Lockie for The Armoury), and may get a cable knit from Colhay's. Then the basketweave from Meriyasu. Maybe another chunky turtleneck too. I need more closet space!

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
