Does anyone have opinions on Quince's baby cashmere? https://www.quince.com/men/men's-luxe-baby-cashmere-crewneck-sweater?

Previously I have purchased their Cashmere turtleneck which is pretty good for the price point (~$60-70). It seems to be washed a lot for softness.

For Quince baby cashmere, I can see the construction is much simpler than other makers, but I'm tempted to order one just to see how it compares. I've previously handled LP and Auralee Baby Cashmere and both are pretty good.

My two cents (not having tried any of their garments): I know their whole shtick is DTC budget cashmere, but especially that product page is something. First of all, if I hear "baby cashmere" I think more of the 13 - 14 µm range. Their baby cashmere being 14.5 - 14.9 µm sounds more like the fine end of regular cashmere. The fibres also seem to be short-ish based on their description, but Johnny can probably comment better on that.

The thing that really gets me is them comparing their sweater to (some) Loro Piana sweater at around $2000 which I think is (a) highly misleading and (b) laughable in my opinion; both in material and construction.

If you are very keen on trying it, please go ahead and tell us what you think - you got 365 days to return it after all. I, for one, quite like the ribbing detail on the sides.

With all my good will I can't see quality even remotely being comparable: of course, purchasing Loro Piana, you also pay for the name and prestige, but can't imagine that a product costing $200 can really compare with another costing $2.000.

FWIW, Consiee’s baby cashmere costs a little less after tariffs and duties than LP’s regular yarn

Assuming that this is either unplied or one end of a plied yarn, and not the highest possible quality - the price checks out

Once, their pure cashmere yarn being better than the so called "baby cashmere" is kind of strange, and its in their own description. I never handle something from them so keep that in mind. But, its irrelevant to have 1 year to return if you have nothing to return because of the quality that degrade with every wear and wash (remember you have to return the garment under their own terms). Thats why i want Grade A cashmere to be divided or more aggressive on quality of the yarn. Again, 30mm length compared to 34-36mm to their pure cashmere is very strange. For me i would put this below Grade A for sure.
At this price you can try it and see, if its better than companies like Gobi or OneCashmere then its a win for the budget cashmere customer industry, but i doubt that. They use a cheaper yarn than Consinee 13-14µm/34-36mm
LP baby cashmere is on another level, for once you have 13-13.6µ and 38-40mm length , not just its a far superior yarn, but also very rare since that length its very hard to get from baby goats.
Their better product based on their specs is their cheaper one

I've worn for the fist time my made to order Oxton Sportshirt (polo neck sweater) and felt it as a little tighter than my vee neck Oxtons, all in EU50 size. Curious about that I compared the two garments and, while pit to pit width, length and other measurements correspond, the shoulder width is visibly smaller on the polo sweater.

Here is a picture.

The fit is still good, but this inconsistency is really concerning.

There only appear to be limited online stockists of Fioroni generally online.

Looks lovely (and oddly cheaper than the fioroni website!) but I prefer the light brown shade

I really wonder what is going on in their factory. It seems like the shoulder measurement is at least one size smaller.

The shop ordered my cardigan again - I will try to stay optimistic for this one...

Just wondering why exactly a narrower shoulder width is concerning if all other measurements add up? They may have simply chosen to change the shoulder width for this model, right? You may prefer the seams to sit at a specific point, sure. But if the arms are longer and compensate for the narrower shoulder it shouldn’t be an issue in terms of fit.. (given you state pit-to-pit and other measurements are the same).

Often the lighter colored vicuna is from Bolivia or Argentina for some reason.
The color also influences the price from some mills, there’s almost $1k difference between the least and most desirable shade, and of course the diameter and length play into it too

I don’t think vicuna is officially graded? However, I know there are differences in woven fabrics. Not sure if it is due to difference in raw material itself or the different techniques used by different companies.

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
