I've calmed down a bit over the Clarkson/TG discussion. I love reading books, riding my bicycle and driving a car. All three of those help me de-stress.

When someone deliberately misleads people about cars or just parrots off the spec sheet and calls it a review - it pisses me off. Clarkson did both every episode and was a lying jerk on top of that. /rage

Not defending Clarkson in any way here, but I will say that I think Sabine got way more exposure via Top Gear than she would have gotten anywhere else. Probably increased her fame / brand 10 fold if not more.

I hate when people make up statistics like 10 fold. She's a great person, but her life is pretty modest. She runs a couple of restaurants and cottages, a driving school, and does racing. Her life is pretty full. Top Gear didn't help her.

I PM'ed one of the forum members about my thoughts on what that show did to her.

He also tried to de-rail the most innovative car company in the world when they and the global economy were going through a huge financial crisis.

10 fold is probably a conservative estimate. It has ~350 million viewers a week. My only point is that there is no way she would get that kind of exposure elsewhere. Personally I don't care what she does or doesn't do with the exposure, but it does have value and it's probably worth trading a slight insult for.

I agree that Clarkson is a human marital aid. My only point being that I don't think Sabine can be too offended in that I thought she was 1.) portrayed in a very positive light, 2.) a lot of people would love that kind of exposure, 3.) I am assuming she knew what kind of show she was getting herself into, and 4.) if she didn't know then she easily could've done research.

I realize she is a friend of yours, but please realize that even though she might have had one insulting edit lobbed her way doesn't mean she didn't come up smelling like roses.

She's not some close friend of mine. She was great to us and a genuine person. I have her e-mail, but it's not like we're on the phone every day.

You pulled the order of magnitude increase number out of your ass and backed it up with nothing.

Newcastle is looking quite tropical. Lovely NSX BTW.

I got back home to Brunei last month for holiday. The NSX has been sitting in the garage for two years. I had it towed to a workshop and had all the fluid change done and new gas. Air con gas was refilled. The car drives smoothly after two years of storage. Still a good for daily driving but very tempting to go fast.
