Hi all! So I'm planning to purchase a pair of Carmina Bal Boots from Skoaktiebolaget. I have some questions that hopefully can be answered as the trying to search within other threads has me more confused ha.:

http://www.skoaktiebolaget.se/collections/carmina/products/carmina-cognac-cordovan-bal-boots

1. I live in the U.S. so would I pay the 5700 SEK (w/ VAT) or the 4560 (w/o VAT)? What would be the exchange rate approx? Google says about $700 w/o VAT

2. Approx how much would the Import duty be? I've 5% 8% or 10% so Im not sure. Would the import duty be owed on delivery or would the shipping company (i.e. USPS) send me an invoice?

Basically I'm trying to prepare myself for expenses incurring seeing as it's a substantial purchase for shoes than I normally would make. Thanks all!

You are not in EU, so you don't have to pay VAT. They are some killer boots.

Hello patliean1, thanks for the interest in our store. Here is a little more about VAT (value added tax) deduction: http://www.skoaktiebolaget.se/pages/vat-deduction

Import duties are the buyer's responsibility, but to my knowledge, we have had no US clients being hit by customs yet and we're shipping dozens of parcels each month to the US.

Note: If hit by customs (against all odds), US import duties for shoes made in the EU are 8.5%. That's still a lot less than our 25% VAT in Sweden. We have the highest taxes in the world, but at least this works to our advantage when we export outside the EU.

How long does it usually take to get a response from Betty? I sent an email on Friday and haven't heard back.

W/O VAT, and I never had to pay duty on my pair. You do pay shipping though.
Yeah I was told I would be responsible for a duty tax for purchasing direct from Carmina from FedEx. Just had them delivered and no request or anything for any duty cost...

Since it's a shoe pron thread:

I got my Navy Shell Boots from Epaulet today too! Christmas early.

FedEx will invoice you a few weeks after the fact. I bought some direct from Carmina last month and got an invoice for $25 in duties today.

That's ok, I'm glad you guys gave me the heads up earlier. Since we hit 4" of snow here last night it may be a day or two before I bust these out for some "in the wild" shots.

JR are manufacturers of leather soles, they are good quality and considerably harder wearing than others.
