Why is finding good boots so hard? I want the boot equivalent of loafers so first I showed my wife some chukkas and she said "these look like pilgrim shoes" then I showed her some laceless open walks and she said "these look like the slippers my dad has at our house."

Then I showed her some chelsea boots and she said "you'll look like you ride horses."

(facepalm)
The answer is side zips and to not ask your wife her opinion on boots. While I think it’s true that women appreciate nice footwear, it’s really only insofar as a dude putting effort into his style choices. 99% of women (or people in general) don’t really appreciate the difference between a Clark’s desert boot and a Viberg service boot. Hell most wouldn’t notice the difference between a Johnson & Murphy and a John Lobb.
