That's a lot of options. Would be more inclined if it were narrowed to three.

For you guys with nice boots. How much action do they get when there is actually snow on the ground? Obviously snow is only the minor issue, but salt is the serious damaging factor.

My guess is nice boots, let's say $500+ for sake of quantifying, never get worn when the commute includes salty, wet sidewalks.

Of course some may drive to work and park in garages, like myself, but that takes away some of need for the practicality of boots. Just curious though if people treat nice boots as actual winter wearers this time of year.

The Islay was my winter boot of choice last year. Pebble grain and dainite is a great combination! We had record breaking snowfall in Boston and while I drive into the city and park in a garage but I still do a fair amount of walking. After a couple of weeks of dodging the salty slush crevices at every crosswalk, I decided to treat them with Obenauf HDLP. It worked like a charm. The salty stuff wiped off easily at the end of the day and my boots never became saturated or ended up with salty stains.

In preparation for this winter, I added a bit of wax polish and they even took a shine.

You have a lot of patience to bull those caps. I'd do them for rainy season but the snow just ruins the shine too quickly. I miss my Islays...

Not to combo-breaker the awesome Conistons/Dark Blue Boot love (which I agree with, RogerP)

but these just came via FedEx

Just like the Conistons - also pebble grain, cap toe and rubber sole (commando vs the Dainite on the C&J).

Carmina. It's my 4th black Carmina boot. 3 of them are captoe. I need to get some perspective and variety I know....

warning this is NOT @RogerP picture quality in the least.
