No matter what you think of the man, this is impressive. And George Lucas can almost be forgiven for Indiana Jones 4 and the ruining Star Wars. Almost.

Seriously though... People give americans ****, but nobody gives more.

Warren Buffett is one heck of a salesman. I doubt that 100% of the pledged money will be collected, but it's still impressive even if 20% of the 10% actually keep their pledges.

I've always admired Gates and Buffett, regardless of what other people have said about them.

Meh, give me a billion dollars today and I'll have 99% of it given away tomorrow.

As for Buffet, not to be cynical, but doesn't he kind of have to donate it? He's already made it fairly clear that his family doesn't deserve ****. What would be left to do with it?

I would be eager to hear people's justifications for not pledging 50% of their earnings at such a high bracket.

I used to dislike Gates when he was at Microsoft. But his work since then has been superb and his foundation is great. He has earned my respect.

I feel the same way. We should just tax them.

Exactly. Let the government distribute it in a fair, even manner. They have a much better skillset for administering funds than the average billionaire.
