mine creased and squeak as i walk (although getting less obvious with more wear)

good for the price but id rather pay twice as much for a decent pair than im satisfied with

Squeaking would be a huge negative for me but that hasn't happened. I'm happy with the shoes.

In some ways, because of the cheaper price I don't coddle them, and don't care about minor niggles. It could also be because I have enough other shoes and know that they will eventually get scuffed and damaged anyway and these are the least visible flaws in comparison.

For those who are available, a few of us Melbourne members have been kicking around the idea of catching up next Thursday the 29th after work for a couple of pre-Christmas drinks. So far on the confirmed list we have:
  • appolyon
  • Gerry Nelson
  • California Dreamer
  • aKula
  • myself
With FXH down as a tentative.
If your a Melbourne based member, or will be in Melbourne next Thursday night with a free slot in your calendar, you're more then welcome to join us for a night that will certainly begin with fine gentlemanly conversations on the topic menswear, and most likely end up with unnamed members unsuccessfully working the room for a pick-up (what happens at SF Melbourne meet-ups, stays on SF Melbourne meet-ups!).
A venue hasn't been decided yet, but if all else fails I'm sure that the default Melbourne SF meet-up venue, The Aylesbury, will suffice (FXH is amendment that appolyon once picked up there, hence why we keep returning!). Please shout out if you have any other venue suggestions or preferences.
Either reply to this post of PM one of us if you're keen.

I'm keen but not normally in town on Thursdays. However I might be able to come in anyway so put me as a tentative.

Are we talking casual or work if work what colour suit? trousers or sports coat?

Casual chinos? Jeans? Shorts?

Work wise I wear a lot of navy blue or charcoal grey.

Do you spend time outdoors in Summer get a tan? you could have a look at H&K or H&H or CT shirt sites at the various shades of blue they have.Mind you I wear black Groupius frames or a gun metal grey frame and have a bead so that does break the hair down a bit, forces peoples attention away from the grey hair, which I must admit makes me look intellectual.:D.

Caught up with Jason (Charlie's Wardrobe), Geoffrey Firmin and Marbles in our nation's capital this morning. Was a lot of fun. The cafe where we met (Two Before Ten) would be at home in Surry Hillls or Fitzroy, great fit out and coffee.

Casual is what I am after Light summery good breathing abilities,
Chinos, and shorts, so long sleeve with chinos and short sleeve with shorts I should imagine, as you may guess I am a late bloomer as far as putting together a decent wardrobe, as my work dose not require such niceties.
I do not intentionally go out in the sun to get a tan ( fair skin ) but I do go out in the sun walking so I do manage to get a bit of a tan.

Well, there's 20% off sunspel polos at the moment, and I think I might grab two for the summer here.

If I grab them, I'll let you fellas know how they go!

Good to meet you finally mate and to catch up with the others. Hope you are enjoying your time in the bush capital. And on that note and with the cracking day we have here, I've got an appointment with a couple of trout...

For those who have Sunspel polos how do you find the sizing? Are the skinny fit, slim fit or a little looser. Not sure if I would be a medium or large. For reference I am a medium in Gant, Lacoste (but a large in their slimmest fit), O & J shirts (not the loosest shirt I own, lovely though) and Ralph Lauren. Thanks in advance. Have been looking at the long sleeved ones for a while and 20% off is tempting.

Polos are $115 each from Sunspel inc. shipping. They look great.
