Ok on the same page re captains of industry now, thanks. My friend was thinking of doing some work with them so I'll give them a suitable warning.

Re meetup ... how bout next Friday 6pm onwards at The Aylesbury top floor? I won't be sporting a burgundy knit tie but a knit tie none the less. Who's in?

i could be in for that.

The important point from MickeyD's unfortunate experience is to never trust a hipster.

Damn that sucks. I like the concept those guys have.

agreed. I'd actually heard about it about 12-18 months ago, and had been meaning to visit for a long time. When I got back from London & Paris is June I gave up on trying to find an OTR suit I was happy with (after getting an awesome suit for 350 pounds at Ben Sherman Savile Row), so went to them. Unfortunately it hasn't been the positive experience I'd hoped it would be.

Also, just got back from R&B, and ended up with 4 ties, no official burgundy ties left that I could fund, but got the one with the stripes (as pictured a page or two ago). There was a rough woven silk one of a similar color which I really liked, but the only one there had a few pulls in the cloth.

I might be able to make a brief appearance. Wouldn't be able to stay long as we have a dinner appointment but I'll see what I can do. Tie and all.

I probably be trying to chat up random ladies next Friday evening.

Another random idea pop into my mind: Wear your R&B burgundy knit next Monday going about doing what ever you do Mondays and play spot the SFite. :D

Since it sounds like all the burgundy knit ties at R&B are being snapped up by SF members and probably no-one else - that's the one I bought too - it's heading toward being an official SF Oz members tie :D Now we just need a recognition confirmation gesture or silly walk for street encounters.

So it appears my one and only contribution to the sartorial landscape of Melbourne was the original proclamation of the Official Tie. I can die a contented man. :)

I noticed today in Chaddy that Country Road has started selling pocket squares. They have clearly gone mainstream now, and we are going to need another way of singling SFers out from the crowd. Maybe the Official Tie is the answer.

I think Brisbane members should buy a tie for forum identification.
