Spoke-hub distribution (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spoke–hub_distribution_paradigm). As it enters progressively larger networks, it passes through their respective hubs.

Some hubs can be in the same place but service different networks (a sort of "vertical" move). You might have a small city near an airport that picks up all the packages from regional hubs for international flights - one more name on the list.
