Sydneysiders, I need a recommendation for any restaurant with a clear view to the East for next Monday evening's Supermoon.

I've already tried Bondi Icebergs. Booked out.

Try PoP's front verandah - he'll move the bins to one side and cook for you.
Sorry, my place faces WEST, towards the Bridge.

Coxy, try the Coogee Pavillion.

so i officially need glasses at the ripe age of 29. i've already ordered the frames i want online (dita and tom ford), and for prescription + lenses there is a specsavers and OPSM within 10min walk from my house. is there any noticeable difference between the two companies, or should i just go with the cheapest?

Not much recent experience with OPSM, but I can say of Specsavers that the lenses they use scratch very easily, and I mean very easily. Like when your trying to not scratch them and doing your darndest not to scratch them, they still somehow end up with scratches on them.

Just saying...

Have you tried on the frames and do you know if they'll fit you?

I've ordered plenty of stuff online and I've been generally lucky with fit, but frames are one thing that I'd be very nervous about ordering online unless I'd been able to try them on first, simply because different frames suit different faces and you can't adjust the size of frames the way you can with clothing. If they're too big or too small, you're stuck with them.

I know several people who have had dreadful experiences with OPSM optometrists but, having said that, they offer a money-back guarantee if your prescription and/or lenses are wrong.

Optom in this country is a total ripoff - markups on good lenses like Nikon or Zeiss are well and truly over 10x what they cost. Actual cost price on very good Nikon lenses are about $20. Also, a lot of them will try to sell you lenses with all sorts of coatings, which drive the price up. I am not sure which brand of lenses Specsavers use, however...

Also, be weary of the refraction - a good optom will spend time to get the refraction right, and binocularly balance you, as well as ensure that you haven't been over-minused or under-plussed.

Personally, I find big brand optoms very underskilled. Look for a non-branded, established independent optom...
