If your prescription has changed drastically over 6 months, that is rather unusual. Sometimes it can be from high stress, sudden onset of diabetes, and sudden onset of high blood pressure...etc. Basically any big change in lifestyle or health can affect your vision.

Keep in mind that getting a well fitting frame that is good quality will last you a long time and you can change your lenses down the road as well.

Little background I've alwas had a stigmatism and a few years ago my vision at night went away. Now I'm working 60 hours a week on a computer. So take those two maybe a small amount off added stress but it def isn't my blood pressure or diabeties.

Astigmatism can increase and sometimes it decreases. I'm sure your eyes are fatigued at the end of the day. Consider getting Nikon's Seecoat Blue or Zeiss Purecoat. It reduces the amount of blue light and creates more contrast in colors, which is great for computer use.

CityConnection, I'm hoping you can assist me.

My Cutler & Gross 0935 in Dark Tortoise frames were recently adjusted and I believe excessive heat was used as the acetate has developed unsightly ripples on the temples and also some ghosting (whiteness effect) in these areas. Is this fixable? And if so, how? I believe I'll likely have to send it back to C&G to be properly repaired.

Thanks cityconnection. What about waking up mornings and having blurry vision to the point where I can't focus on the tv that's 12 feet away. I also feel my eyes trying to focus more.

Do you have a pic of the frame? Depends of the rippling. It could be the finish on the plastic or it could be the heat that damaged it. As well, the white is usually from the acidity of your sweat. It happens with age.

With correction or not? It's possible. For a reason why it happens, consult your optometrist or ophthalmologist. Hahaha...

I found these in a thrift store and in good condition. Well, not the lenses. The first pic is from online, second is mine. These have temples I haven't been able to find online, they have springy earhooks. Are they of a quality worth turning into eyeglasses for when I eventually need new lenses?

Also, the same thrift store had a pair that looked like it said Marchon but was work away a bit. They looked like this except the temples were red plastic and so was the front of the part surrounding the lenses but the part around the lenses on the inside closest to your face was gold. Are those worth a pickup and maybe eventually turning them into real glasses?

CityConnection, I am looking to buy a new frame because my roughly 2 year old Warby Parker is worn out from daily wear. I have to say that the price on WP actually reflects the quality of their frames and lenses. They maybe a good option if you can rotate at least 2 or 3 pairs, but that's not what I wanted.

Therefore, this time I'm looking at something better and can last me a while. Consider that I am Asian with flat face, what plastic frame brand would you recommend? I have looked into Cutler and Gross, Prada, Agnes b, Paul Smith. How are these brand's quality? Should I look into other brands? I am also considering Prodesign that you recommended on the first page.

City connection, are you in the GTA? can you recommend a decent location with a large selection of 'good value' frames to try on? Some of the designs by Salt appeal to me, but so far buying eyeglasses has been one of those necessary evil's I put off for much too long and I want to change that.

Also is there a good source describing the different lense options. I read your faq and I've searched but I find the overwhelming volume of information daunting. I just want to be able to make an informed decision.

RANT: REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD NOT BUY FROM CLEARLY CONTACTS

1. Their lens quality is terrible. The optics are horrendous, the coatings are too soft, and the lenses craze too easily. You are overpaying for their lenses, period.
2. They are NOT CHEAP. For how much you are paying, they are ripping you off. $49 frame with lenses in a 1.61 index with AR and shipping, you pay $130 out the door. You can certainly find a MUCH BETTER product at a B&M and get a selection to try on, as well, you get service and after service.
3. Most of their brand names are NOT BRAND NAMES. They are all house brands. They are not "exclusive" if they are house brands. They mislead people to think that they are really brands.
4. The quality of their frames are sub par. The frames are not serviceable because they are house brands and I'm pretty sure that they will not replace a screw, temple or front for you. I have seen frames where the right and left eye were not exactly the same size. Usually, both lens can be cut exactly the same from one another for a perfect fit, but I've seen some that were nowhere near the same.
5. They cannot adjust them for you. You will have to take your frames to a B&M to get them adjusted. When you factor in all the previous points, there is really no reason to buy from them.

I generally say that you get what you pay for, but I have just seen way too many disappointing products from them. They promote, a "first pair free", but think about it, you think they are really give it to you for free?

Take my opinion with a grain of salt, but I have seen my pair share of this industry.

I make NO implications that I know all, this is just simply my opinion. Agree with me or disagree with me, that is your choice.

PS, their contacts aren't cheap either. After paying for the lenses, shipping and handling, and waiting for the lenses to arrive, you will pay slightly more than a regular B&M. Independent B&M generally get manufacture rebates from the companies. And those are normally not provided by chains and internet sales.

I really don't agree, my experience has been the complete opposite. It's disingenuous to claim they only have house brands. That's completely false. They have a few, and they are priced as such.

I've bought a lot of glasses from them, and every time the lenses have been great. I've paid far less than I previously paid at B&M stores, have many more frames to chose from because of it, and more money in my pocket.

I've sent back some frames because I didn't like how they looked, and it was free return shipping and 100% refund. Incredibly easy.

I buy all my contacts from them and pay 20% less than I was paying at my optometrist for the same ones.

They have a brick and mortar store in Toronto if I really need to go in, so a lot of your other points are irrelevant..

No offense, but that is my opinion. As is most of my posts, it is simply my opinion. I can find tons of b&m stores in my area with better quality and pricing than Clearly Contacts. Even their contacts aren't cheap compared to a lot of retailers. As well, b&m have rebates on purchases.

Everything is 2 sided. My opinion differs from yours, and that is okay. I mean no disrespect.

Let's be real. Those glasses are fun. As a secondary pair, I think they will be cool to have. As a primary pair, they will need some work. I can't tell from the pics but it looks like there is some corrosion on the temples. If you're handy, you can buff that out a bit or put a clear shrink wrap over it. It might cause discomfort otherwise.

The temples that are springy and wrap around the ear are called cable temples but in the pic it looks like it is a regular temple tip. Changing those would probably be a good idea as well.

Those styles were very common in the late 80s and 90s. You probably picked them up for fairly cheap. If I were you, I'd put a bit of money into it to get them cleaned up and wear them. After a little buffing and changing the temple tips and nose pads, you should have a fairly good frame.

Some brands (included in your list and not) would be Prodesign (nose pads), the NEW Giorgio Armani (from Lux on in "F" models which are asian fit), Danish Eyewear (nose pads), Paul Smith (you can get factory mounted pad arms on any plastic frame), Lindberg (pad arms), Kio Yamato (just a great fit), O&X (great value and fit)... those are would be my first choices. Not the only choices, but a good solid bunch.

I am from the GTA. Pm me your area and I might know a place or 2.

In terms of getting the best lenses, it depends on what kind of frame, rx, mounting, fit, previous lenses, curvature... in short, find a place you trust. They will be able to help you out.
