except the belts which I didnt event know they had///lol

I wouldn't be surprised if it were permanent. AE hasn't really been keeping up the shell line with the calf. Shoes that were long retired in calf would stay available as shell relatively long (see the Norwich), colors have been limited, they've had trouble with the truck show SMUs, and it seems to me that seconds have been more frequently and more deeply discounted than in the past (granted, at higher absolute prices following retail price increases). Given the more radical changes in the calf lineup with replacing classic styles with the "new coke" 2.0 series, I expect that the shell will either follow suit or go away. So far, it's just been languishing...

That said, I wasn't thinking it would go off like a light-switch and I'm hoping with everyone else that it will come back.

@cc808314 at least in Maine the shell SMUs were 500, 400 on sale.

Wasn't riverhead where everyone had their cc info stolen or something like that?

Any suggestions from you guys on what I could get next?

So far I have:
  • black FA
  • chili PA
  • Walnut PA
  • chili University
  • Walnut Strand
  • Brown Presidio
And I'm planning on getting a pair of FS boots in brown after Christmas. (and I still think it's strange they aren't in the fall catalogue line up)

I wear mostly odd coat and trousers with a tie.

I'm thinking about a monk strap in chili or oxblood, or another brogue in dark brown or oxblood.

I'm considering a pair of Fifth Avenues in either Dark Chili or Brown. Which of the two works better with a grey/charcoal or navy suit?
I own the FAs in Dark Chili and absolutely love them. Wear them with both navy and charcoal. I am pretty conservative but they really complement the suits well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Not exactly sure to what you are referring. They appear to be a little different, but not sure I would say "off." Unless I was paying in the $500 range, nothing about the stitching I see would bother me. I say, if they feel good, pick em up.

Picked these up today from the Mebane store. Chocolate brown was not listed on the shoebank website, so I was very pleasantly surprised to see these on the shelf! I've been keeping an eye out for these in my size for about a year.

They look good to me. One of the joys of brogues is that, because of all the detailing, small imperfections are much harder to notice.

I'll be very sorry if AE has discontinued its shell cordovan line. So far, I have only had the chance to pick up 3 (two Leeds and one Bradley), and I had my eye on the Strand in brown shell. The Shoe Bank has a Grayson in my size in burgundy shell but I have a burgundy calf Adams and it would be tough to justify the purchase to myself.
