I would like to develop such a nice relationship, but frankly I have found the sales associates only "okay" in most Allen Edmonds stores. Perhaps I have just yet to meet the right one.

Yeah, YMMV. There are three SAs in the shop here. One, the manager, is very good. Had training, did several months of what seems to be an internship in a large market store, actually wears the product, etc. The second is pleasant, but not terribly helpful. The third is.. well, if you can't say anything nice...
One wonders if it is the training that makes the difference, or the simple luck of finding someone with a passion for the product.

Time for the last post of the year on the AE thread. Maybe. But is is raining today and it is a great day for the Thousand Oaks. Rubber lug soles and Chamois (I think) and pretty impervious to water.

Kiowas get called up for New Years Eve day chores. A few gifts to exchange, some last minute fireworks purchases, and of course, some bubbly.

Had some crazy onlookers while taking photos of my shoes.

Can’t believe it’s going to be 82 degrees today...what happened to winter?

You live in Tampa. It's basically cold for a few weeks in February and that's it.

They came out beautiful, so thank you @ae_ashley!

I am still deciding on which laces to use...

Next up are the color 8 Higgins Mill. I love the color, don’t love the sole. They are so light and I wasn’t expecting that at all. For some reason I was expecting a heavy lug sole, but I guess that’s partly my fault for not noticing. I guess they would be a good option for travel though as they wouldn’t add weight to the suitcase. I will wear them and see how I feel about them, but I may end up just changing out the sole to something like a tan wedge. Snake Oil Provisions made an awesome Alden boot with a similar leather, Truebalance last, plain toe, and tan wedge soleand I missed out in it. This could be a replacement for that.

Finally, these White’s MP-Sherman boots. I guess opening these first and feeling their weight and then opening the HM’s above really skewed my perception about them as these puppies are SOLID and heavy. I love them. Dark brown waxed flesh and the best leather laces I ever touched.
