You don't like the HM? I'm guessing you don't like freedom or bacon and the concept of free bacon is probably lost on you.

You don't know the HM. You can't know the HM. You just can't.

Have you ever seen the HM in person? Have you ever gazed deeply into its eyelets and stared at the wonders of its customizable sole? No, you haven't.

I'm guessing you've never held the HM close and watched the sunset with it. I have. Believe me, it's an experience you won't soon forget. And, yeah, people talked, but I didn't care. Talk is cheap, and my shell HMs weren't. Besides, I was just thankful to be able to spend that time with the HM.

You've probably never even thought to share your secrets and your dreams with the HM. And, that's a shame. You're really missing out. The HM knows me even better than I know myself these days. And, in a crazy, mixed-up world like ours, that kind of relationship is worth its weight in gold (and shell).

You've never shared a tub of raw cookie dough with the HM and giggled like a couple of school kids, have you? It will change your life.

You've probably never been in prison and used your one phone call to reach out to the HM and tell it that you love it. I have. Say what you will about a man and a brief prison stay, but knowing I had that kind of boot on the outside made life worth living again.

You've probably never been drinking this much gin and then posted on Styleforum, either. You should try it. But, that's another story for another time. In the meanwhile, I need to go spend some more quality time with my HMs.

I'm now adding @Coffandcig to the list of writers that I can't stand. Move over Jane Austen and Thomas Pynchon and Saul Bellow, there's a new type of prose that turns my stomach. "I just don't like the HM." Nope. I'll never agree with this stance.

If we select best post at the end of the year, this is in the running. Up there with @BFT9000 ‘s “wishlist” for 2019 and the TS sample photos from the queen weasel...
