A very special July 4th episode of This is How We Roll

We did a little grillin and swimming in the pool. Then when it got dark we started to blow **** up.

Funny thing is that after about an hour of blowing **** up, the neighbor came over and said, and I quote, "come on guys, enough is enough, my dog is pissing all over the place every time there's an explosion - I'm going to send you guys the cleaning bill." Like it's my fault that his dog is such a *****. Anyway, it was pretty awesome.

Little late to the game but just got back from the weeklong excursion to New Hampshire and Lake Winnipesaukee.

For the 4th we rolled out at 9am and headed out from the Lake House to rent a boat for the day. My friend owned a boat but it wasn't working at the time. We decided to just get a 20ft bowrider. We headed out in the morning and picked up a few people and met up with a friend who had a jetski. We cruised the lake most of the day and docked in Meridith and Wolfborough for lunch and dinner at the pier. We tooled around some more in the boat stopping periodically for swimming breaks in the lake and returned the boat at 5pm. Afterwards we did some grilling and then hit Wolfborough again at 9PM for fireworks on the lake at a patio restaurant in which we had a few drinks. We then headed to this multilevel bar/restaurant nearby and proceeded to drink the rest of the night away. It was a good time, we met a bunch of other people from CT as well there. The only bad thing was the hangover the next day. I keep forgetting to drink water.

grilled ribs, lamb chops, shrimp, and chicken. drank lots of beer. hung out with neighbors and family. smoked a few cigars. life is good.

Being an American expatriated to Japan, I went to work as usual and did what they hired me to do. Late in the evening I tried to phone my broker, and when I got the firm's answering service I realized it was July 4th. Loads of fun.

Last time I was there for the fourth, Wolfeboro had a great 8 or 10 piece brass ensemble in full trad getout: khakis, red seersucker jackets, boaters. They were rockin' some Beatles early in the evening with the requisite S&S Forever during the finale. Small town Americana at its finest.

I really like the town, great little shops, nice people. They actually had a nice band with the whole getup you described playing a couple days before in the gazebo by the pier. Definitely a different atmosphere than the big city. It was enjoyable for a week of vacation but let's just say after a week I was glad to be back in CT.
