Black Grenadine.

+1. Also a great tie to have around for non-funerals. Other decent choices are the black oxford silk or madder twill, which are a bit more matte in texture and thus (IMO) funeral appropriate than black ties with more of a satin-y texture.

Hey, speaking of shades of color, can anyone comment on the variations between the solid wool challis #2 "Red" and #3 "Dark Red"?  On the shots in the Gallery on the website, it's hard to detect much difference.

Well, poor question. Likely no one would own both (except maybe PP). :). So I'll ask instead ... does anyone have either? Can you describe it in any way?

Hey Guys, I have a question. Ive been looking at this thread for a while, wanting to pull the trigger on some ties. I love the grenadine grossa ties. I own 2 from other places. They are both "lined" (I think "lined" is what this is called) they have a dark diamond shape material at the ends of the tie on the back.

The area im talking about is shown on the grenadine 4 fold tie construction @ about 7 minutes, she cuts out material from the area.

https://www.samhober.com/videos.html

Ive seen pictures where you can see through that area at the end, and to me it just doesnt look quite right. Is it possible to get a grenadine grossa with that area covered on the back so you cant see through it?

Or am I overthinking this? Can you really not see through this area with a grossa? What are the pros/cons of having this area covered or uncovered?

Sorry, Im a complete beginner to this and dont know the terminology. Ive had my swatch set for a couple months and really itching to start buying :)

What you are talking about it whether the tie is "tipped" or "untipped." You can certainly ask for your tie to be tipped. I would order it as "self-tipped," which means the tipping material is the same as the body of the tie.

Thank you Patrick, you just made it easy for me to start ordering!

I just ordered 2 ties and got them sent to USA by DHL. I've never been charged a duty tax. How do I pay this, or how does this work in general?

Have you been charged for this order? Usually if you order two or less you don't have to worry about it.
