Good morning-
I read in David’s newsletter that there was an American (brooks brothers) tie shape vs a European (bottle shape) tie shape. Google hasn’t helped. Does anyone have any comparative pictures? I’d like to see what the European style looks like.

Did you ever get any additional info on this? It took me a while to figure out why I prefer the shape of some ties over others and I believe this is the reason. I lean toward the bottle shape.

Nope. I email replied but David didn’t have any pics. Couldn’t really find anything online either.

At the risk of sounding exceedingly stupid, are Hober's ribbon backed cummerbunds essentially "self-tied?"

That seems weird, but I also think I prefer it, if that is the case

Unfortunately I don’t have another non-bottle Hober tie to compare with but here is the most recent bottle shaped tie that I ordered. Oddly, the taper doesn’t seem that different from any other tie I own but I am guessing it is more gradual, leaving more width up toward the knot.

Just got my wedding tie in! It's a white on burgundy shantung pin dot silk tie. David was super helpful and directed me here - will definitely be a customer for life

Any thoughts on faille silk to pair with a tuxedo with grosgrain accents? I noticed that David's grosgrain has fairly coarse ribbing; it seems like the grosgrain on my tuxedo is a bit closer to the ribbing on the SH faille than the SH grosgrain. Faille vs. grosgrain seem fairly interchangeable and input from anyone that has had experience with both fabrics would be helpful. Thanks!

I am interested in purchasing a satin bow tie from Sam Hober for my wedding, but I am a little confused by the ordering process and I am looking for some help.

First, can anyone say what the difference is between the Large Butterfly With Points A and the Large Butterfly With Points B? I can't tell a difference based on these graphics.

Second, after selecting the Large Butterfly With Points bowtie, it then asks for vertical height range. On Hober's bowtie page, the large butterflys have a vertical height of 3 inches. If don't select 3 inches here, will they just default back to normal tie dimmensions?

I would ask David directly via email. He’s very good with communication and will get on the phone with you if a conversation is necessary. I’ve ordered a many ties from Hober including satin and grosgrain bowties with very specific measurements and he nailed them.
