Man, I do NOT want to wait a week for these things to get hemmed.

Mauro at Denimbar is the man, though. Nice people at the Arlington place.

Edit: did you guys notice that some sizes don't have the "made for StyleForum" logo on the inside of the pocket? I tried on the size 29s and 30s ... the 29s had the logo, the 30s did not.

Godmother here...very strange...cause pockets were stamped before sewing...are you sure there is no stamp on the wearers inside right pocket ? I inspected them 100% and did not notice...Are you sure you did not try on another style. We have three styles currently at Denimbar. Really strange.

Hi Godmother. Yes, I'm sure ... no logo on either pocket. I'm assuming it is the 5EPxSF because it rang up under the correct price ($210 after SF discount).

If it helps, the item # on my receipt says 22343 and the jeans came with the little denim swatch and a tag that says Project 5EP, 30 (the waist size, I guess) and 032 below that.

I'm not broken up about the logo, but I just want to make sure I got the right jeans!

I think that you got a pair of Low Down Bootcuts, which are nice, but... not the collab jean. All of the 5EPxSF were cut at a nominal 34 inseam excepting 8 pairs, which flew out the door the very first day...

Fok.

Argh! I went all the way down to Arlington to try them on!

Edit: the tag on rear of the jeans says RN #109719. I guess that's the LDB ....

Oh well, I don't think it's the end of the world. I read your "top ten jeans" list and IIRC the LDB were on the list. The "bootcut" was certainly not as flared as I expected so they look nice.

Any idea how the SF collab jeans size compares to the LDB? Seems like Mauro still has a ton of size 30 5EPxSFs, which means I can save myself a trip to DC if I just mail order a pair ....

If you're a 30 in the LDB, you're probably a 31 or even a 32 in the collab jeans (depending on how big your legs are, etc).

Ace,
I have tons of 30's and one 31. If you want to make another trip to try on that's cool. If you want me to ship you both pair and you send one back that's cool too.
Sorry for the confusion. It seems like you like the LDB as well.
Best,
mauro

^^ Unfortunately, I cannot make another trip to Arlington this weekend due to a conflict. But thanks, I will take you up on your kind offer.

I like the LDBs so I'll hold onto them. This will make (hopefully) three 5EP jeans ... one LDB, one SDZ (coming in the mail) and one SF jean.

Hey Sauce ... I hear ya, I have read the same (that the SF jean runs a bit small). My thigh measurement is 22"; no idea about my calf measurement.

It's a combination of the SF jeans running a bit small in the smaller sizes (30 and below), and the LDB running about a size large. You'll want a 31 in the SF jeans, I think.

Understood. I'm going to call and get both 30s and 31s sent to me. Can't hurt to try both, I guess.

We need to convince Mauro to open up a Denimbar in Philly.

Confirm ( as per LA GUY noted ) the jean you bought is not 5EPxSF as we did not cut this style in 32 inseam. To clarify about 5EP sizing...the LBD + SDZ run a pretty normal size spec ( +/- industry standard tolerance ). The 5EPxSF jean was intentionally cut slimmer in the thigh / seat with no allowance for shrinkage. That is why we suggest if you will wash the jean, size up. If you will not wash buy your exact size and avoid some o the confusssion when buy raw ( dry ) denim jeans.

Addtionally 5EP denim does not " stretch " much and really is dependant on how you wear your jeans. For instance I wore a pair and nver washed it and it stretch between 1/2" to 1" depending on the point of measure...for example the leg opening at bottom hem rarely stretches, as compared to waist / thigh / seat. I am curious to know how the fits compare as you have all three fits. There are some specific difference in all the fits to help you identify them

LDB = LOW DOWN BOOT / MID TO LOW RISE / BUTTON FLY / BOOT LEG ( +1" BIGGER THEN KNEE AT BOTTOM HEM / BACK YOKE SEWN OVER BODY PANEL

SDZ = STRAIGHT DOWN ZIP / CLASSIC RISE / ZIP FLY / STRAIGHT LEG ( KNEE IS SAME AS BOTTOM HEM ) BACK BODY SEWN OVER YOKE

5EPxSF aka LDS = LOW DOWN SLIM / MID TO LOW RISE / BUTTON FLY / TAPERED STRAIGHT LEG ( BOTTOM OPEN IS APPORX. -1" SMALLER THEN KNEE ) BACK BODY SEWN OVER YOKE

RD = RIGID - RAW UNWASHED / SANFORIZED / CUSTOM PURE INDIGO MIX 13.5+oz

OW = ONE WASH -RESIN ONE WASH - COLD RINSE RESIN CURED

DW = DARK WORN - DARK INDIGO BASE / LOCALIZED ABRASSION / RESIN CURED

VW = VINTAGE WORN - MID INDIGO BASE / LOCALIZED ABRASSION / RESIN CURED

Hope this helps in better identifiying product. FYI RN# is the number registered by all manufactures with the federal trade commision to identify who made the jeans.

Godmother, thank you for the very informative post! It turns out that what I got from Denimbar that day was the SDZ (not the LDB) as the jeans have a zip fly, not a button-down.

Mauro hooked me up on the SF jean so my hat is off to him for taking care of things professionally and quickly. I'm going to keep this pair of SDZs, as I like the way they fit.

Ace - your jeans are going out today.

The 5EPxSF jean is more like the NS.
