and that is the other thing we do, complain that we have a crap team when we probably don't, then we are unable to enjoy a tournament because we must win...every time!!!

ah the curse...and I wouldn't change a thing.

Forza Azzurri and best wishes that you all enjoy the tournament.

Paisan, you summed up what it means to be an Italy fan perfectly!

I wonder if that will be a penalty throughout the World Cup or just when it happens to someone from Brazil...

Croatia rather toothless w/o Mandzukic, but that should've ended as a draw too. Brazil w/ 2 lucky points.

Yeah that was a terrible decision. I thought Croatia as good as Brazil -- tidy at the back and dangerous on the counter.

All three of Brazil's goals didn't come from much build up.

I grew up with Italians (mostly Juventus fans) and I got to hear this all the time.

Thanks for the memories of loudly and colorfully cursing the ****** playing of our team, eating copious amounts of sausage with polenta, bombolini, cannoli, espresso, infinite varieties of salami, and grappa, all mixed up in a big whirl.

Oh, and the officiating sucked today. As did all of the goals. An auto-goal, a completely bogus penalty call, and two goals where the goaltender seemed glued to the ground until the last moment.

the croatians are tough cookies especially for a host's opening match. seeing the brazilian eduardo get emotional while decked out in their checkered colors was funny though.
but to be sure, they're a force esp in the midfield -- real madrid and barcelona's midfield maestros modric and rakitic.
it's still hard to digest a brazilian squad built from the back up, and couple that with scolari's conservative approach and this is a far cry from what i always knew and loved about them.
a friend was telling me how the commentators in brazil were talking about Fred's ability to seemingly be doing nothing, convince the opposition that he's actually not there, then suddenly pull a magic rabbit out of his hat -- and he certainly pulled something out of somewhere for that equalizer. Neymar's 20000 steps before striking the ball just begged for it to be saved and the keeper had it--but of course i called it out loud and jinxed it :p
it was a real madrid man who had the blunder and the barcelona hero who saved the day for the brazilians ;-)
but at the end of it all, croatia had 90 minutes and didn't find the back of the net on their own. yeah score line flattered hosts and the penalty should never have been but that's the secondary debate in my opinion.

Croatia were let down by their keeper.

I used to like Netherlands until that very moment shown above.
