Embracing 40 with a Wardrobe Revolution - Seeking Style Guidance

Today marks a milestone for me - I've turned 40! This birthday prompted me to scrutinize my wardrobe, which, let's say, is in dire need of an overhaul. I've primarily been a t-shirts and chinos guy, but now I aspire to be someone people regard as a "good dresser." There's something empowering...

Second shoes for Navy/Charcoal suits that can also be worn casually?

I'm starting a job soon that will require me to possibly wear a suit every day. It's for an English teaching gig in Japan, and I won't know until I get there whether I need to wear a suit every day or if they will allow me to dress a bit more casually in Chinos. That said, I'm going to buy both...

When is the Next Brooks Brothers Sale?

Yeah, if you go into a BB you can have a suiting essentials suit made in whatever cut you like, including the Milano. For some reason they seem to be pretty quiet about the option, I had to bring it up to the SA I was working with. The price is either six or seven hundred.

When is the Next Brooks Brothers Sale?

Does anyone know if the discount applies to a Suiting Essentials Milano cut? Or is that different than the normal suiting essentials as far as discounts are concerned?

When is the Next Brooks Brothers Sale?

What is the difference in quality between Allen Edmonds and Peal&Co. ? I'm looking to buy my first pairs of dress shoes (one black, one brown) and am wondering if I should capitalize on today's sale. Even with the discount the Peal&Co. shoes will be about $100 more than their AE counterparts...

Less fine wool better for starting suits? S110 vs S140

So I'm looking to purchase my first two "staple" suits that I will use for a new teaching job in Japan. I already have a navy blue pinstripe suit (hugo boss I believe) that I purchased from Nordstrom's Rack not too long ago, but it really doesn't fit me well. I believe that a suit will be my...

    WAYWRN: Classic Menswear, Casual Style

I really like both of the shoes in these pics, could you (or anyone) tell me what model/color these are? My guess is that the second pair are Alden chukka's in snuff, though I'm not sure. Cheers!

What is the difference between the Benjamin Sartorial and Lucente fits? I'm 6'2" 190lb & wear a 41/42L. I normally need a more slim fit to work for me (wide shoulders but smaller chest and waist). So far the best fitting suit on me has been a BB Milano. These will be my first 2 suits (want a...

My first suit - advice on cut

Suitsupply seems pretty nice, but I don't understand why they don't make slim-cut suits with a notch lapel. As far as I can tell their only slim fit is the Washington which only comes with a peak

    Introduce yourself.

Hey everyone, I've been reading the SF forum for a few weeks now trying to learn about how to dress and build a wardrobe. I'm 28 years old and have a closet full of clothes that I don't like wearing and am trying to begin collecting my staples clothing items and build a more adult wardrobe...

My first suit - advice on cut

I'm also looking to buy my first suits and was checking out BB. I'm a pretty skinny guy but I have broad shoulders, for me the Fitzgerald was okay but not great. I would highly suggest speaking with their master tailor about the suit you're looking at how it fits you rather than just the...

Thoughts on these Balmoral's for my first dress shoes? Feedback appreciated

Hello SF, I'm a 28 year old who is just now starting his adult wardrobe. Previously I had no idea how to dress, and shopping involved a lot of frustrated buying of childish clothing that I didn't wear and ultimately just wasted money on. I've read a lot of these forums and other style blogs...
