Out of curiosity, who do you use for pressing (assuming you are still in the Metroplex)? Thanks.

I like that a lot. Unfortunately, I will be out of town and will miss Steed when they roll through Texas next week (my second or third miss in a row— I’m a bad customer). I’m always worried that guys with weird schedules like me are the reason traveling tailors stop coming to places like Dallas...

You should have told him that he’ll be ok in blue/gray unless he adds a fake badge to the outfit. Then all bets are off.

Unfunded Liabilities: a/k/a The Cloth Thread

I have a navy suit from Steed that they referred to as a “hopsack” (it’s from the Botany book, but I can’t remember the number), and it doesn’t look rustic at all. I occasionally use the jacket separately, but it really is too smooth to be ideal for that purpose— not that anyone really notices...

    MyTailor (Hemrajani Bros.) Appreciation/Discussion Thread

For those of you who have used the full bespoke service, is there a house style/silhouette that you stick with, or do you just work something out with Joe? I apologize if this has been answered before; I read through this thread, but didn’t quite see what I was looking for. Also, I know several...

Storing suit in suit supply garment bag. Is it okay?

Point taken. Taxi seats off-gas like crazy.

Storing suit in suit supply garment bag. Is it okay?

The hybrid plastic/cotton bags from Container Store are made of PEVA, or polyethylene vinyl acetate. I’ve seen PEVA described as a less-toxic alternative to PVC. I’ll leave it up to the experts to tell us whether that’s true or not, and whether PEVA off-gasses. As I’ve said, I’ve never...

Thank you all for the responses. I live close to J’s. I may give them a whirl when I get ready to bite the bullet. Shipping a suit to one of the specialty places is probably easy enough; it just seems like a chore. Chris Despos recommended a cleaners over on Southwestern and Greenville (I...

The Anderson & Sheppard Expatriates Thread

Slightly off topic, but related: do you guys send your Steed stuff to local dry cleaners when necessary, or do you send to some specialist shop like Rave in Arizona? And if you happen to know a good cleaners in the Dallas area (Mark in Plano?), that would be great, too. I typically take the “dry...

Storing suit in suit supply garment bag. Is it okay?

Has anyone ever actually experienced the “off-gas” phenomena? I have 10 or so plastic/cotton hybrid bags from the Container Store (all cotton back with plastic front) that I’ve been using for a decade or so without any issues. Is it more a problem with all plastic bags? I only buy the all cotton...

That looks great, Mark. I hated to miss them in Dallas (my second miss in a row). I hope they are getting enough action to keep coming.

Best Place to get a suit in Dallas?

Then stick with SuitSupply. No shame in that, especially if you like the cut. Paying big money for mtm or bespoke that doesn’t fit your esthetic is a waste of money, no matter how well made it is.

    Good call.

Best Place to get a suit in Dallas?

Congrats on your upcoming wedding. I’m a happy Steed customer, and I think their mtm option is within your budget. But I wouldn’t classify their cut as slim and modern. If I were you, I would check out the mtm program at Pockets. Korshak is also worth a look, but, in all honesty, their prices...

I have a dark gray sharkskin Steed suit out of the Fine Classics book and I love it. I scrounged around and can’t find the number, but It sounds like you are looking for something a shade lighter anyway.

I just did it and you are right. I fixated on the weight, but the 10/11 swatch is very open. More open than my 9/10 swatch (which doesn’t say high twist).
