To be fair you can design a unibody SUV that’s a killer off road machine. The Land Rover Defender has proven that.

The fact the new GX is a BoF is about the only thing I'm not liking about it. It transmits road input in a different fashion than a unibody, IMO, and constantly reminds the driver they're basically driving a fancy pickup truck.

the other night when the 4runner dropped ( there was some chatter about it here ) I got curious and reviewed the land cruiser specs to see what the suspension was as I figured the 4runner would share that platform ...

LC hasn't had a solid front axle since mid-2000s iirc , they use independent front suspension along with some kind of a hydraulic weight distribution system that supposedly irons out body roll etc . here's the vid :

Wife vetoed the Lucid lease, declaring that if we’re going to try EV ownership, it will only be with the Macan EV. Ok then.

It’s a very impressive car, the Lucid. Its interior at a $70k price point makes you question why you should settle for the Delta comfort plus-level materials that Tesla uses in its interiors

That’s kind of the point. BoF is superior, off the road.

That's not really why I'm interested in the GX though. I mean, do I think I might do some rough roads in Baja with it? Winter in Canada? Sure. Other than that its main two draws for me would be Lexus/Toyota vehicle lifespan and also the lifespan of the design cycle. I want to go into retirement with such a vehicle.

Why not the TX? I mean I like the looks of the GX more but the hybrid options and kid space of the TX have basically solidified it as my next purchase.

I'll look at that too. I've got two years left with the Audi so we'll see what's happening.

Are you sure you’ll qualify for a lease on a Walmart greeter’s salary?

You really did not understand the exchange there, did you?
