I spent the last few days in Quebec City. While there I made what turned out to be a five hour excursion in an ice storm to Lac Megantic to pick up this pair of World War 1 Dacks dress boots, spurs, boot pulls and gators. They were owned by a officer by the name of Hamlin pictured in the centre of the front row in the attached photo. He was a member of the St Hyacinth Regiment (infantry) of the 6th Battalion of the famed 22 Regiment (Van Doos). He mobilized to France in 1915 and was present at all of the major Canadian battles through to the end of the war.

The boots are near identical to a pair of near NOS boots that I sold recently. I missed having them so much that I had been hunting for another pair. These boots were made in Toronto during the Robert Dack era (father of S.E Dack). They are in pretty good shape. I am moisturising them now, although they have clearly been looked after since the war and the leather is soft and pliable.

If you want to step up your game then you'd like to try raw selvedge denim. As I know, Gap had Kaihara selvedge line. Not a bad choice to start with.
Great recommendation. I have several pairs and they are a great starter selvedge jean. In fact I'm wearing some right now. Suggest size down in the waist a little as they will stretch over time. Coincidentally, a few sizes are On sale at $31.99 with code "MORE"

Hi friendlygoz,

Curious if you ever found out any more info on these captoes.... I found a similar model on ebay that were in my size. Looked to be in good shape and in my size so I pulled the trigger. But there's not much info online about this model at all.
“I wrote @davidVC and here’s what he told me.
Those were made in the early 90s. Model number is 97327.
It's a nice model. That pair looks fairly worn.”

I have one pair of selvedge jeans. But I don't roll the cuffs. I don't like the look. It reminds me of my childhood/teenage years/early adulthood when my mom would be too cheap to get my pants properly hemmed. So I rolled up everything that was too long, which was everything because the pants had to be passed to my younger but taller brother.

I do plan on buying Japanese denim one day. Until then, I am quite content with my current jean collection.

I’ve tried selvedge several time and I find them too high maintenance. They do look good when worn right though. I’m. A huge fan of Revtown. They look great and they are incredibly comfy.

Does anybody wear navy shoes? I can’t decide if I like them.

I read up on Revtown the last time you mentioned it. I will have to try a pair sometime. I want to do my part for the environment. I already stop vintage shoes from hitting the dumpsters. This the next step.

Someone in 10.5 should really jump on these super vintage AE Finns,I first see them in the fall 1958 catalog through 1960 but they’re gone by ‘63-nice shape with the cloth tag sewn insidehttps://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F164006167364https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F164006167364

Update. The boots I purchased from goodwill online arrived. Need to clean and condition the leather. Remove the white stuff. Open to others thoughts.
