So, I received the Jungle Jacket in olive herringbone...and it's frustratingly excellent. Quality is great and the material is both substantial but soft. The shade of green is perfect: not quite olive-y brown but not quite brighter green, typical of Drakes. it scratches everything I wanted in a jacket like this and I expect to wear it a LOT. I did size down, and it was the right move for me. It's extremely roomy at the tagged size, and sometimes with garments like that, as a smaller guy, I end up swimming in an unflattering way. The size down gives me the perfect room for layering what I would actually layer; this is never going over a sportcoat but it might take the place of one sometimes.
That said, there is NO WAY it should be priced at $1000. $500 would be great, $700 would be expensive, $1000 is eyewatering. I'm in a place that when I find something that is exactly what I want, I try and buy more than one. The cost of this makes that impossible for me, which is a shame. But I will keep this one despite the price.
