Sun's out, gunboats out! Took delivery of these Color 2 LWB from B+M, but the rain and overcast wouldn't allow me to capture the tones of this Color 2 make-up.
Absolutely love everything about this Color 2 Longwing as it features Alden's latest Dull Gold eyelets which to me are more muted than Brass Hardware. 360 pre-stitched reverse welt helps the Barrie last look even chunkier. Add that with Double Waterloc soles and the McAfee heel to give it that iconic profile and comfort. The laces appear to be a taupe/light olive which accents the Antique edge and welt perfectly!

On their own, these don't appear to have much of a red hue to them, but when you compare them to Ravello and AE Chili, you can see the differences. I don't own any Color 4, so can't compare, but this batch of Color 2 aligns more with my expectations of what Color 4 would look like.

Alden color 8 is the best as are V-tips and single oak. Merry Christmas!Super excited to finally get a pair and my size at leather soul. Got me the v tip color 8 on single oak. Sucker for dark/mahogany edging View attachment 2098121
Oh no! Hope you’re all feeling ok.Merry Christmas guys, we are staying home, no shoes today (or for the next 5 days or so)
I don’t think Alden does that. Unglazed color 8 would probably just be another color of shell. The glaze is what makes it color 8Is anyone aware of any Alden shoes or low boots currently offered in unglazed Color 8? I recognize I can strip the glazing, but would prefer it to be unglazed from the start. Thanks!
So.... alden does its own coating on color 8 for consistency. Horween shell is almost always glazed as well. These are two different finishes. Unglazed shell from Horween isnt a stock option anywhere and is pretty uncommon. If you're just wanting the shell without the coating from Alden then you either need to strip it or just go for another maker. Is anyone aware of any Alden shoes or low boots currently offered in unglazed Color 8?
