Years ago, I've had luck with getting Saks to do some alterations on outside purchases. I was pretty happy with the work, although my recollection was that the prices were high.

Does anyone know if the Paul Stuart store would be amenable to providing the tailoring services on the items purchased from last week's sale? It IS their clothes after all, so you wouldn't get the BS that zjpj83 got at RL. Any thoughts on whether it would be bad form to do so? It is a paid service after all so I'm not sure why PS would have an issue with it.

Regards,
Tom
they salesman at the Paul Stuart sale, who works in the shoe department at PS, said once they sell it they "never want to see it again." You could have been talking out of his proverbial hat.

What has been the average alteration time for a suit at some of these places?

I may need something altered within two weeks...

Wilfred's usually takes about a week. If you need it in two weeks, take it in now, schedule it for a week out and call them to check on its progress.

It's a paid service, but not a profitable one. I asked the main PS guy there and he said they would not be alterring anything from there. Can't blame 'em at all. Why lengthen the wait for your other customers just cuz some b'tard got a $1800 suit for $225?

Dorian, I took my stuff into Bhambis this Monday and they said it would be ready next Friday (less than two weeks.) My guess is they could also speed the process up if necessary.

Try Johns Cleaners and Tailors on 244 East 60th street, up the block from Seredipity. Best original hem on jeans that I came across, they offer three types of hem styles. $12.00, $20.00, and $30.00 original hem (no material). They also can be viewed on Facebook. They do great work on all types of pieces even suits and dresses for women.

Blatant self- advertising.

And nice 7 year grave dig.

Any new feedback on tailors? I'm in the midtown NoMad area and considering Wilfred's or Peter Field. Any preferences?
