The Tailors' Thread: Fit Feedback and Alteration Suggestions

Hello, I would appreciate any advice on how to refine my trouser measurements. This was my first go as custom work from Luxire. I'm looking to get better drape, more in line with the second image. I know I need to go with a heavier fabric, but how should the measurements be adjusted? So far I'm...

HOF: What Are You Wearing Right Now - Part IV (starting May 2014)

It's supposed to be an OCBD but there are some issues with it that are entirely my fault based on what I selected. Since this is my first custom shirt I didn't have complete faith in my measurements so I went with an inexpensive shirt for my first one, trouble is it's very lightweight fabric...

HOF: What Are You Wearing Right Now - Part IV (starting May 2014)

Zegna sport coat/BB tie/Luxire shirt and trousers/ old miUSA Cole Haan shoes. First time getting a custom shirt, now I know what to tweak for round 2. I got an unfused collar and it's very comfortable but it collapses on itself a little bit. Will fuse the cuffs are well for the next one...

Grant Stone - Official Affiliate Thread

I need some styling advice. I've got a pair of Diesels in navy chromexcel, absolutely love them. Fit is perfect, they're well made, comfortable to walk in all day, just all around great boots. My issue is I'm struggling to figure out what to wear them with, and I'm not wearing them as often as I...

Wearing black/dark colors in the summer: Looking for examples/advice

I don’t have a lot of black in my wardrobe besides belts, shoes and ties. Last year I stumbled across this article on black in menswear: https://journal.styleforum.net/how-to-wear-black-in-classic-menswear/ A couple points stood out to me. The author mentions men used to dye summer suits...

HOF: What Are You Wearing Right Now - Part IV (starting May 2014)

Beautiful coat. I've been struggling with the whole white sock thing for some time, it looks great here. I really like the "dress" jeans, I've got a similar pair of pleated and cuffed jeans from Paul Stuart and a custom pair in ghurka style in a much darker raw denim. I find people are sometimes...

I feel like I'm about to tell James Bond my master plan .

What shoe polish do you recommend using for the Navy Chromexcel Diesel's? I was thinking navy Saphir but the "navy" Chromexcel isn't actually navy, it's a mix of blue and green.

    Ongoing Bespoke Projects

Apologies if this is the wrong thread but I figured people here would have experience. I want to have a few pairs of wool pants made in shades of dark gold or mustard, burnt orange, emerald green, lilac, and royal purple. I’ve used Luxire before but they really don’t have the colors I’m looking...

Vintage Dress shoe appreciation, tips, maintenance and advice

I read a couple of articles on vcleat where he used liquid glycerin to rehydrate leather shoes, apparently it’s the same method the Smithsonian uses on their historical leather artifacts. Maybe give that a try.

Vintage Dress shoe appreciation, tips, maintenance and advice

I'd like to thank everyone for their patience and answering my questions about shell cordovan. I did some digging last night reading more into this thread and other forums. Today's question: How reliable is https://shellcordovanmodels.com/#Johnston%20&%20Murphy This website seems to be an...

Vintage Dress shoe appreciation, tips, maintenance and advice

Thank you, based in its short and unique history I’d be fascinated if the shoes were corfam . Im going to start cleaning and conditioning the shoes based, I’ll get some better pics in a couple of days and hopefully there will be some improvements and it will be easier to tell

Vintage Dress shoe appreciation, tips, maintenance and advice

That’s odd, there were 7 pics in the album. It will be a couple days before I can get pics in natural lighting outdoors, but I’ll gently clean the shoes and take some pics outside next Wednesday and post them here

Vintage Dress shoe appreciation, tips, maintenance and advice

I bought a pair of shoes on eBay because I liked the color and style, now that they've arrived I'm trying to figure out if they're shell cordovan or not. Reasons why: 1:Leather has rolls instead of creases 2: The leather has a different feel to it that any other leather I've touched before...
