    Not literally correct, but fairly true. It doesn't hurt to treat the welt, which leaves a small strip on the upper at first. this is soaked in over time and is not visible from a top view and/or from two yards+ away. Is it clever, I dunno. I live in a rough climate, so I just do it for slush...

    what is wrong with wax on the entire shoe, given that it is applied a thin layer to protect the leather? your mind set appears pretty strange to me and the common sense of shoe care, just imo, of course.

    cream: collonil 1909, medium brown, mahogany, dark brown wax: kiwi mid-tan, brown, dark tan as others said, depends which direction you want to move. considering you have two pairs, you can try different things. ymmv.
