JLC had a couple of stealth updates to their master ultra thin perpetual calendars. Same price but with 70 hour power reserve up from 38.

Sorry to hear that about Steed. Fortunately the worst I've had to deal with were straight lapels on a sportcoat that I didn't ask for (but looked great anyway, it looks very old-school A&S) and bad buttonhole finishing on a suit, which got rectified and look perfect now. (The original finisher...

    The Official-ish DC Thread

I might show up to this meetup. I've never been to one before but what the hell. Also this discussion on Asian food is amusing. That's such a big category, it's like saying European food. I haven't tried finding good Korean food in DC, I go to Fairfax for that. Or I hit up the H-Mart there and...

Commissioned a navy blue blazer from Steed, single-breasted. I went for gilt buttons because why the hell not. The fabric was a bunch that Matt likes and has used for his travel suit, I think it was "Yorkshire Textiles" or "Yorkshire Fabrics" or something like that. If it's robust enough to...

I've been thinking about this one for a while and when I heard about the price increase (which just happened today) I took the plunge. Reverso classic mono small seconds, large. When I first learned about these I wasn't too keen on them, but over time I grew to appreciate them more. I also...

I was able to get some of this too, I was worried when the site said "sold out" but it turned out that the tailor I'm using got a length for me. Might not be able to fund it this year but it will be in the queue for next.

Tempting, I've worn several suits made with Minnis Fresco in the DC summer heat and I've managed to survive. I'm curious how Rangoon would do.

I think I lucked out with Steed. First suit was 95% there, and their prices are pretty reasonable. The cut just works for me. The finishing is much less fancy but that's fine with me, probably helps bring the price down. I'd like to try Steven Hitchcock someday.

Agreed 100%, I got it because it was quirky, and because James May wears one (an older white dial)
