I have two pair of JMM frames. I found a local boutique, who gives free prescription lenses with each pair you buy. So that helped soften the sticker shock for me. I previously wore Moscot (Nebb and Lemtosh), along with a few mass produced brands here and there. I get compliments on both JMM frames (Enzo and Jeff) quite often. IMO the quality justifies the price. They not only feel significantly more substantial, but after a couple years of wear on the Enzo, it still looks new with a quick polish. I also really like the standard JMM prescription lenses. They don’t seem to smudge easily, they are scratch resistant (I think), and they have wonderful clarity, even after a couple years.

I have two complaints about JMM. First, because of the thickness of the frames, you have to use a JMM retailer for prescription lenses. Lucky for me, mine provides these at no charge. Second, they fit a little tight. So if you have a big head like me, you’re gonna get tension headaches from the constant pressure. I think I can have them adjusted, but I don’t live by the boutique anymore, and I don’t trust a local optometry shop. So, I drink a ton of water and pop a Tylenol here and there.

Overall, I love my JMM frames. I think they are worth the price.

Not a fan of the "hammer" pins, but it's a stunning, classic frame.

By the way, I had to polish those pins, as they were dark and dull. I wished JMM would use palladium instead of silver.
I clean them from now to then with a silver cloth and they look fine.

Unless I find something new and super interesting from JMM, I’m just going to enjoy what I have and be open to other brands (not that I need new frames). Recently revisited Dita and new to Chrome Hearts, and like what I got. Liked it for being niche, but it’s a victim of its own success. Not entirely, and not necessarily in a bad way, but slowly getting there.
I got to this stage with JMM about 2 years ago tbh. I think before prices went bonkers. I've had a dozen or so over time and sold pairs that commanded a decent price and re-used the funds. The standout was the Vintage Tort Ascaris. Have about 8 pairs now (Enzo, Dealan, Jax, Fellini, Seberg, Scarpa, Loewy and Jules)

I’ve said over and over that frames which look good as sunglasses often don’t look good as opticals. Maybe the Richards fall into that category. Once again:

Aviator shades - Maverick, Redford, US prison camp guards, etc.
Aviator opticals - David Koresh, Jeffrey Dahmer
Wayfarer shades - Jack Nicholson, JFK, Audrey Hepburn
Wayfarer opticals - Austin Powers, Buddy Holly, nerds
May I also add Neuman from Seinfeld as an an example aviator opticals. That character really pulled off the look. IBH, I like the aviator optical look. So ‘80s, so nice.

Well each to his own of course but …
1. The point being made was that aviators DON’T look good as opticals
2. Seinfeld was the 90s not the 80s.
3. If Newman is your style icon … well let’s just leave it there, eh?😁

Ordered the Debbie. I feel like these will actually work. Will post them when I get them in, gotta order optical lenses too.

The shape is fairly aggressive and unique, but not absurd.

Also nice to know not all shops jacked up prices on older frames. This one was $800usd with shipping.
