I recently ordered a pair of aurum shoes and asked a few questions about the leather. The "triple box" question came up. I believe I've seen it referred to here before but it really isn't all that clear to me what it means. So I decided to just ask for a layman's explanation that I think is interesting enough to share.
From what I understand, the leather is literally tanned 3 times to achieve a higher level of finish. According to the response I got, "regular" box calf leather will flex about 10 million times before failing. The triple box calf can go 50 to 70 million times. While it sounds like marketing speak to me, apparently there is a machine to test this and determine the quality of the leather in terms of structure. Which should mean the leather can last much longer and give the wearer that much more enjoyment.
Apparently Meccariello has access to customized products that are not readily available on the market.
Any thoughts on this?

He always talked about his triple box, I can only tell you I like the result, compare to all the other paint on crust this the most easy to take of, not dry etc

The other stuff can’t really verify

I want to echo @clee1982 - once you own more than a few pairs of AM shoes, you realise certain questions shall remain as mythical as Olga’s moonlight bleach patina for Berluti.

P.S. Not a hater, owning more than a dozen pairs of AM shoes myself at some point

Thinking of getting the centurion with peccary. Was planning on going for the soft square last and Noce colour.

Anything to watch out for? I haven't bought Meccariello before

New style from the workshop. I like it quite a lot. Also, seems to be a very rare choice by the Maesteo - Ilcea museum calf available this time.
