Damn thing has achieved cult-like status, I guess. Architects will soon be talking in terms of having to sell or being able to buy Zumthors, when they discuss the economy....
For a while I started flirting with the idea of buying more of these rare design books to make money because I was so familiar with their prices from always checking Amazon, but then out of nowhere they'll either pop up at lower prices or there will be new prints which made it too unpredictable to turn into a money maker. So I don't bother with it. I was trying to get this Diller and Scofidio book a couple years ago and it was going for $700-800. It was the book. Now it's under $200.

Good for Queens, but it looks awkward right now. It'll be interesting to see the design evolve.

looks good but i went to a university where some of the buildings were built in the 70s in a brutalism (?) style out of concrete and even after 40 years the smell inside was still strongly of cement. wouldn't want to live in it.

Construction photos are often so nice, but if this is still the final deal it's going to bad....

That beautiful site deserved better.
