At this fitting, as the collar was still basted, it was ripped off and reset.

Looks good, though the coat length appears a bit too long.

Does Green still use Sexton?

It's the sixth coat/jacket he has made for me. Each jacket's length is specific to the cloth - the beauty of bespoke, he defines where he thinks it should fall. My request is that the cloth should cover my gluteal folds.

The camera plays tricks on the eyes with perpectives, lights, and shadows. I find that a combination of real life view and photographs are needed to accurately assess a bespoke work. That, in addition to wearing the thing awhile.

I am not sure he still works with Mr. Sexton [maybe still for some of his women clients]. I am fortunate to have my first Jon Green suit made by Mr. Sexton, before he got busy with expanding his practice in Britain.

I have thoroughly enjoyed working with him for the last five years, and still make three trips a year to see him - if anything to chat and learn about clothing. The evolution truly has been fun and rewarding.

Agree, but that said, this fitting looks very promising.

Excellent. Looking forward to seeing the final product; what's the cloth on this commission?

In that case, perhaps a change in avatar is in order?

I knew there was a reason that this was posted here rather than over at London Lounge.

You are absolutely right, as this will be my traveling suit, I was inspired by The Blazer Suit. Style Forum Fashion at its best!

Moreover, there was this flow ~ from sportcoat ~ to sportcoat ~ to Blazer Suit as well . . .

Mr. Green sends me a "presentation" of fabrics he selected himself based on knowing me, my wishes, my climate. His knowledge and eyes in the fabric market are truly all encompassing.

Just for today, Blagojevich.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
